You aren’t going to believe this but it is 70 degrees here in Texas. It has been for the past few days. I don’t know when Dallas decided to chill out and become Seattle but I like it. The good news is we can go outside again and not be torched by the sun, the bad news is humidity makes my hair big and flat at the same time. Seconds after these photos were taken the hair went right up into a bun, where it will stay until the sun decides to shine again.

This weather has been perfect though since I caught some type of virus over the weekend. B and I made a palette of blankets and pillows on the living room floor and I stayed there all weekend pretty much. Until yesterday when I felt like getting out and going to Target and Anthropologie. That’s how you know I feel better again; I want to shop. This simple test is a lot cheaper than going to the doctor for blood work. When I don’t feel like eating or shopping, that’s when you should worry.

So late afternoon yesterday I threw on my best dress and hit up the sales racks (which by the way are awesome right now). I’ve got a Bachelors in economics but a Masters in retail therapy.

  1. Love your eyes and hair today!! Maybe they're always like that and it's just because I can see them close up! Killer outfit…glad you're feeling better! Enjoy the weather!

  2. i really like how honest you are! it's refreshing. i can also definitely relate to your bachelors/masters comment! i often feel the same…if only a masters in retail therapy really did exist 🙂

  3. Absolutely love this dress. I typically hate chevron printed sack dresses as every girl in the south seems to think it's cute, but this one has the perfect shape and looks perfect.

PS loving the last pic, LOVE!

  4. That jean jacket is the absolute best! Every time you wear it I immediately start searching the internet. Don't tell my boss that, but sometimes a girl just needs a little online perusing to get her through the work day.

  5. Bummer that you were sick this weekend for 2 reasons:

    1) being sick obviously sucks

    2) I came to check out Bloom for the first time (as I just moved to Richardson from NY last month) and you weren't there. I was hoping for some celebrity encounter or something, but instead, just cute clothes. Not that I'm complaining too much, but I guess I'll have to come back.

  6. I don't know if I'm late in the game, but can I just say that I'm LOVING your ombre hair. Also, I can't believe I'm missing this phenomenon of weather in Texas! 70? That sounds like an answered prayer 😉

You look beautiful as always, Kendi!

  7. I think we might've sat next to each other once at Retail Therapy School 😉 You look great, and I hope you feel better soon! It's still too hot in Houston, but there's a straight week of thunderstorms, so at least I'll have falling-to-bed-music for free!

  8. I know exactly what you mean about your hair, so frustrating. Love the dress!

  9. We have had similar strange weather here in Alabama. I can't complain, I'd take the humid, but 80 degrees over 100+ humid air any day. Your hair looks amazing, very vibrant red, did you do something different?

  10. Cute! Love the pattern of this dress!

  11. I'm wishing some of that weather would make its way down to Florida… it's been raining for two weeks straight and still in the 80s. Yuck! You look adorable Kendi, love that chevron dress.

  12. Question! How do you take such wonderful outfit photos? Does B come with you to do it every day or do you sometimes do it yourself with a tripod/shutter release set up? I'm trying to figure out how to start doing this more (so fun!) but I'd be doing it solo, and I don't know if I can get such beautiful scenery on the street without worrying about someone grabbing my camera/tripod and running off, haha. Just wondering if you have any sage wisdom for this? 🙂 You're the expert!

  13. So funny, because its really hot in Seattle today. And by really hot, I mean 80 degrees, lol.

  14. Agreed! This weather is glorious!!! 🙂 But it is making me extra sleepy!! Love your outfit! Adorable!

  15. Love the dress. Gorgeous.

  16. I freakin' love this outfit! A little bit of neon with a graphic print is my favorite thing lately. You are just so cute, you can pull off anything 🙂 P.s. you are not alone. When I'm sick, I don't want to shop, and when I don't want to shop, EVERYONE should be worried and prepared for the worst.

  18. Funny! I was actually thinking how fabulous your hair looked in these pics before I read through!

  19. Loving how well this look came together. The printed dress with the pop of color from the belt is perfect and I love how you paired with the denim jacket. Very cute, casual and chic! Love it!

  20. Same here on the weather!

On the hair front, haven't down anything since January but I think it's the sun hitting my hair and making it more red. I dyed it red back in December and now I think it's just lightening up. Plus it always looks more red in photos for some reason 🙂

  21. Love those chevrons! It is always nice when the weather plays along when you're not feeling well. Glad you're feeling a bit better.

  22. This is such a lovely outfit. The chevron dress goes perfectly with the denim jacket. And that's so strange how the temperature went down – I wish I could have some of that! We can barely go out these days and instead resort to the air-conditioned house.

  23. K, that chevron dress is cute, but did you read the copy for it on the site?? Did you know your dress has a cute "synched waste?" Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. I never knew a waste could be cute, much less synched. I'm not a spelling snob, but this was pretty much over the top.

  24. I am from Seattle and was in Texas for couple of days last week … It was soo hot ….wanted to come back to seattle right back 🙂 … i get what u were saying …

Check out my latest post at http://thinkiloveit2.blogspot.com/.
I am big fan of your blog and hope you can follow me.

  25. Kendi, I, like, stupid-love that Madewell tote; you've been tacking it on with so many outifits, and it always looks fab!! Thinking about ordering the English saddle color and adding my initials. For $10, why not??

  26. Will you stop being so adorable all of the time?? Actually, don't because I get too many of my outfit ideas from you, haha. I looooooved the cooler weather we were having this week in Texas…until it decided to be 70 degrees for an hour and then shoot up to 98 degrees for the rest of the day. Typical Texas.
