Hands down one of the best things to come from my blog has been the community I’ve built and the friends I’ve made. I would be willing to compare my blog to my time in college, especially since I still share a bathroom with my roommate as well as wear flip-flops in the shower. Moving on, way back in February, my dear friend Jentine featured me on her blog, My Edit. That was really when my blog took off, so I’ve always felt grateful to her for featuring me. I thought I’d return the love and give a little shout out today to Jentine. After all, it is Canada Day and she is my favorite Canadian since John Candy.

c/o www.myedit.blogspot.comProbably my favorite thing about Jentine is how good she is at thrifting. This girl finds the best items in thrift stores or on major sale. I’m on the fence if I would like to go shopping with her — on one hand it would be fun but on the other I’m pretty sure she walks through stores and all of the best stuff comes to her like a magnent and I’d get really jealous because only full priced items flock to me. I’m starting to think that Canada is where all of the good sales are or where really good thrift items go to die. That or Jentine is just magical. (Case in point, she got a Marchesa Notte dress for like $10. I know, she’s ridiculous.)

c/o www.myedit.blogspot.comAlthough the list goes on, another thing I love about Jentine is her way of putting clothes together. To me, she is one of the best dressers out there (excluding this beauty from IKEA). She looks straight out of a magazine, always. She is like Betty Draper meets Courtney Love. Okay that analogy didn’t really work as well as I wanted it to, but you get the idea. (Also, she would never smoke while she was pregnant, which both Betty and Courtney did.)
c/o www.myedit.blogspot.comOh, and one more thing. Her cat’s name is Kyle. That might be the best name for a cat in the entire world.

So in honor of Canada Day, do the right thing and check her out at myedit.blogspot.com.

  1. She is gorgeous. It's always great to have friends in the blog-o-sphere. I posted one of my blogger spotlight posts myself in the morning, dedicated to a dear friend. I love the skirt she is wearing in the first picture. Love the texture and color! 🙂

  2. O Jentine! I'm a huge fan. 😀 Very few of my favourite fashion bloggers are from Canada, and it makes me happy that she's repping not only the Canada, but the southern Ontario.

Sendin' you donuts and Mounties from the great white North,

  3. If I have a busy day and only have time to read a few blogs out of my list of 150, I pick Kendi Everyday and My Edit. It makes sense that you two are interweb-friends. 🙂

  4. Since I've been following her posts for awhile now, I would say that Jentine is most likely magical. That's the only logical explanation for how she can be so tall, so beautiful, so good at thrifting, so sincere, but also so funny… It's magic I think.

  5. Jentine is that girl in high school that you wanted to hate because she was so perfect, but you couldn't because she was so sweet. She's got such incredible style sense!!

  6. Agreed, she is one of the best dressers out there. Sometimes I look at her blog and think, "that outfits wierd, but it looks really amazing." She seems to walk the lines between conventional and ridiculous with her clothes (and i mean that as a super-compliment!) That's really the make of a great dresser, some who can put unexpected things together, but she never crosses the line into "OMG what was she thinking?" territory.

  7. I did actually click on your Ikea link- I'm just letting you know.

But yeah, jealous of Jentine for her ability to not only thrift, but thrift super effectively.

    And for being Canadian.

  8. This blogosphere of ours really amazes me! I've only been blogging a short time, but there is so much love and such a sense of community. When I began to blog I had a fear that people would be snarky or that they would reject my blog – but I've found it to be just the opposite. I love this little showing of blog sisterhood, it's always good karma to give back the love. I can't wait to check out Jentine's blog.

  9. Hi Kendi, I think I've only actually left a comment one other time, but I found your blog when you were featured by Indiana on Adored Austin, and I have absolutely loved it ever since. I agree with an earlier poster- if I have to pick just a few blogs to read in a day, you always make the cut. Your sense of style is fabulous and creative and filled with all the things I love. Wish I could trade closets with you! 😉 I also love that you actually live in Texas too, so on 100+ days I can still get ideas from you! Thanks for sharing with us everyday. 🙂

  10. Candy,
You are too sweet… very flattered!
And readers… thanks for all your kind words too, though I make one correction. I was not popular in high school, well liked enough but definately not dating the football team captain. Not that we had a football team but you get the point… And yes, all I wanted was to be one of the popular kids but it's ok now, I have a blog.

  11. Love Jentine! She is so funny and sweet. Plus, her style is always rockin'.

clothed much, a modest fashion blog

  12. My Edit is definitely one of my favorite blogs. I love the crazy unique way she puts items together to get great outfits, and she has great photos as well, creative in her surroundings and backgrounds. She's also funny and sweet, and I love that she has 3 cats!
