Today was a rotten bitch of a day.* Even my thinking positive schtick didn’t last long. In fact today took my positive thinking mantra punched it in the face and shoved it in a locker. Needless to say, I kept my mouth shut and waited for 5 pm.

So when we went to take outfit pictures, my ensemble just wasn’t working. I wore wide-legged, high waisted jeans but instead of looking chic, they looked like JNCO’s straight out of my 8th grade yearbook. All I needed was a denim bucket hat, deep, ridiculing acne and braces. We called it quits and did not finish that shoot. Mostly because I couldn’t find my bucket hat.
Then I got home and started to cook dinner – – chicken tacos with black beans. Yum right? Yeah, until I accidentally put cinnamon in the black beans instead of the very close to the same color spice, cumin. There is a reason cinnamon goes on toast. Of course this wasn’t due to my lack of judgement, just my lack of sanity.
So what do you do when your day is doomed, my friends? You go into your closet and put on the most ridiculous outfit you can find (AKA your adult sized tutu) and you take pictures with your husband. That’s what you do.

And if that doesn’t help, Girl Scout Cookies always do the trick.

Tuesday, I’m counting on you. Don’t let me down.

  1. Sorry you had such a bad day. Your photos are beautiful and I especially love the ones by the fridge. Tutus and Thin Mints — how wonderful!

  2. thank god you went for the thin mints.. the somoas would've sent you into the abyss. mine should be here any day now 🙂

  3. Aw, you're so gorgeous and cute and great! I hope your day goes better tomorrow! I love this photoshoot, too!

  4. haha so cute. monday was a bitch for me too. i waited for a parking spot on campus for 8 minutes until i realized the girl's car had died. ugh. which made me late for work. thin mints are a cure-all though : )

  5. you are so freakin' adorable. i love that you had a crap day but then had fun with a tutu and bright pink tights.

  6. awwwwwwww!

i totally talked to someone about jnco jeans and they had NO IDEA what i was talking about! i'm glad i'm not the only one who remembers them … no matter how hard i try to forget! haha

  7. Are you lurking in my highschool memories? I thought JNCO were only cool around here back in the day, I didn't realize their ugliness extended across America. Ugly or not, I wanted tose JNCOs sooo bad back then.
And how cute are you in a tutu with some cookies and milk? Way to put Monday in its place!

  8. I so wanted JNCO's in 8th grade, but I couldn't afford them. I had to settle for l.e.i and Mudd jeans. I did love my bucket hat. Hope you can jump back into a positive realm tomorrow!

  9. ahh girl scout cookies. i bought some samoas from the girls who came to my campus. then i bought somoas ice cream. i think i've reached my girl scout limit 🙂 I love your tights. I have a simmilar pair that i wore on my first blog post ever.(which was only a couple of weeks ago) i hope today goes better for you <3

  10. Brilliant solutions. I generally have a good yelling complain at the wall, or whomever passing by would like to listen. I often feel better afterward.

  11. Haha LOVE the photo shoot. And I consumed many a thin mint this weekend.

And then I received a text from my mom that my 2 boxes of caramel delites & a box of thin mints have arrived at my parents' house. OH NOES (and, simultaneously, OH YES).

Hope Tuesday comes through for you!

  12. It's a bit odd that I find it refreshing that you cursed in your blog. I guess it's just so honest and real and unguarded. haha I love me a good curse word I guess. 🙂 Hope tomorrow is a much better day. And yay for girl scout cookies. Yum!

  13. It's really funny because I had a crappy weekend and decided to post about it because it just sucked so bad. I wish I had thought of your idea, instead of going to bed in a rotten mood. Your outfit is so cute, and I'm sure the girl scout cookies really made you cheer up!

  14. These pictures look like stills out of an adorable romantic comedy. I'd go to see your movie. I hope tomorrow works out better for you.

  15. I always love your outfit pics, but these totally made me smile! What a way to turn around a bad day. Fantastic shoot! And now I want a tutu of my own!

Hope today is better than yesterday.

  16. Two days ago, I put cumin on my oatmeal, which means I think we've done our part to balance the universe. We're just totally selfless like that.

  17. hahaha!

i was thinking "boo, she isn't going to post anything!" but you definitely made up for it. i had a pretty crap day so i made oatmeal choc-chip cookies. chocolate makes EVERYTHING better.

  18. What a great photo shoot! The pictures are awesome and now I totally wish I had an adult tutu to call my own. I had a similar day yesterday, the highlight of which being my slipping on ice and falling on my ass within the first mile of my 9 mile run, and of course, in the busiest traffic area in town where everyone could see me. Sigh…I wish I had had tutus and girl scout cookies to recover from that…

    Hope today's a better one! S

  19. I've just stumbled across your blog … love it! Great editorial photo shoot for a crummy day. Hopefully today will be better. Hey, I see you are in TX. My hubby and I are visiting Austin in May, I'd love any fun shopping suggests you go. Keep blogging =)

  20. this just made my day. i've been having a lot of these kinds of days lately and you took it with stride. i am off for some girlscout cookies this afternoon. nothing a thin mint can't make better!

  21. I wish I handled my bad days as gracefully as you. Once I purchase myself an adult sized tutu it should be easier. One time I accidentally put mint all over a cheese pizza instead of oregano. It was… uh… interesting. It happens! Hope the rest of your week goes much better!!

  22. i'm a new reader and haven't commented yet, but with those tights and that bedroom, oh my goodness! love it! and thanks for reminding me that i need to go out and buy some girl scout cookies. love this time of year!

  23. Good call on the tutu… if I can't laugh at my shit days and how many ways I screw up being a grown up, I'd go nuts! The pictures of you by the fridge are so adorable and hilarious!

  24. You look adorable in that tutu! And I love the shots of you & the open fridge. So incredibly cute! Hope your Tuesday ends up better!

  25. You + Fridge = Awesome I've heard we as women “eat our emotions” and that’s not good but if emotions taste like cookies I don’t see the problem.

  26. I've had a couple baddies this week as well– Monday and Tuesday both. But you completely perked me up! Love the tutu and Thin Mints duo.

  27. Yay for the healing powers of tutus! On the other side of the bad cumin coin, I've managed to sprinkle cumin in my oatmeal instead of cinnamon more times than I can count. I have to keep the two separated in different drawers now. Papers were filed, tears were shed, but no longer do I put cumin in my oatmeal. Also, yay for delurking post! Fantastically ferociuosly fun blog!

  28. ahhhgh! you hit way too close to home with that JNCOs comment… eighth grade was when I started to develop a (very scary misguided) interest in personal style. JNCOs were a big part of that. literally.

love the tutu! despite your bitch of a day you look happy&lovely.

  29. Kendi,

I absolutely LOVE your blog! It's one of my favorites! I was just wondering what you did for work?
