When I was little, like a baby through toddler, my mom always told me about this ear-piercing scream that I had. If I didn’t get my way or if I wanted something, I wouldn’t use my words but I would use this blood-curdling scream to get things done. Want to know something funny? Gemma also has this scream. It started about a month ago and it will numb your eardrum for a good 30 seconds and it’s hilarious. My mom confirmed — it’s the same scream. She got my blood-curdling scream and my very distinctive and funny laugh. She may look like her daddy, but she got some quirks from her mama. So in the first photo where I’m laughing, please note Gemma was 2 feet from me in a stroller with a fan and she wanted my purse and was giving me her best scream to let me know. It’s always an adventure when we shoot now. And I wouldn’t trade it one bit.

I wore this outfit all day yesterday and I had my camisole tucked in with a belt. I ended up with a stain on my top and tied it into a knot to hide the stain. I passed myself in the mirror and realized the shirt like this is MUCH cuter than how I was wearing it throughout the day. Who knew? Just a little knot changes the whole outfit and gives it such a new look. Props to myself for being a messy eater and giving myself a stain.

So I had a lot of questions about these jeans when I featured them last week on IG and LiketoKnowIt. First question, what jeans are these? They are the Levi’s 501 Stretch Skinny jeans in Neat Freak. Now from what I know with Levi’s and their fits is that it all depends on the rinse you are buying. The Levi’s 501 comes in a TON of different rinses and that also means different fabrics. This rinse has a bit of stretch, so I was able to size down one. This is NOT true with all of the Levi’s 501 fits, so if you are looking at buying this jean style be sure to read the reviews for which rinse you are getting! I LOVE this pair and this rinse (Neat Freak). I’ve been wanting to get into a pair of 501’s since last spring when I was a belly full of baby. That was not going to happen and I wanted to wait until I was back to my pre-baby weight before I invested in a pair that would be my typical size. So I am so excited for this pair of denim, it’s just my favorite! They fit exactly how I envisioned them to as well. Such a nice surprise and well worth the year-long wait.

The other question – how are you wearing jeans this summer? This question always makes me laugh a little. As a native Texan, summer is just another season to me. Yes, it’s hot here (it was in the 105’s last week!) but you just adjust, just as you would in the winter months in the north. Life doesn’t stop because it’s hotter than usual and neither does style. My days are typically spent either at home in the air conditioning, at a coffee shop in the air conditioning, or running errands in the air conditioning. Are you seeing a theme here? It’s air conditioning and I tend to run cold always. I have to have one half of my body covered or I just freeze out. So naturally, if I were to wear this camisole with cut-offs, I would have grabbed a cardigan to toss on as well. If my arms are out and my legs are out, then I’d be FREEZING for the most of the day. If we are outside, it’s in the early morning or in the evening or I’m literally running to my car. So I don’t mind denim or jeans in the summer! What about you? Are you a no pants till November kind of Texan or in the heat? I always love to hear how people deal with the heat! For me, it’s just what we do every July through September (if we are lucky), so I just adjust and keep on moving.

  1. I wear jeans year round! Who are these people swearing off denim for a whole summer?! What do they wear instead?? I’m on team denim! Haha

  2. I live in Houston (transplanted northerner…been in TX 14 years). I can’t wear jeans in the summer. Just too sticky and hot. But I do wear a cardigan inside sometimes because of the a/c!

  3. SO cute!! I am a similar size to you, but when you say you sized down in the jeans, what exact size did you get (if you don’t mind divulging!)?
