One of my favorite spring to summer combinations is the lovely pairing of a sweater and shorts. It’s a temporary combination for us down south, but if I lived north and had mild summers this is basically what I’d live in. I’ve got a few more weeks of this combo before it’s too warm so expect a few more similar looks.

Both of these pieces — the shorts and the sweater — are such simple pieces but they are easily summer staples. I love this type of short for the summer, especially when I want nothing touching my body. A looser but tailored short is where it is at. They have a linen-like feel but are softer than regular linen shorts. I’ve put fit information in the Editor’s Notes below! (This sweater is in sizes L-XL at Nordstrom and full sizes at Madewell here!)

How was everyone’s weekend? Ours felt incredibly long but in a good way. We took long walks in the evenings and Gemma has started falling asleep in the ErgoBaby while we walk. It’s just about the sweetest thing in the world and oddly enough it’s my motivation to walk longer, so I can keep her asleep. Who knew wearing a sleeping baby was better than a fitness coach? Whatever works right?

Fit Details

Shorts fit true to size, but a bit generous! Stay true to size but expect them to fit looser. The sweater is oversized! Stay true to size for an oversized look or size down for a more fitted feel. I’m in mediums of both!

Monthly Capsule Wardrobe

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.

  1. What do you wear under that sweater? It looks a little too see threw to go without a cammi, but adding that extra layer sounds like a lot of extra heat!

    1. I wasn’t wearing anything (well a bra, ha!) underneath the sweater because I didn’t want another layer! It wasn’t *too* see through in person so I just didn’t even worry about it. 😉 But yes, your best bet for extra coverage is a cami!!
