I am crazy about a field jacket for fall. But I’ll be honest, this is a jacket that’s been around the seasonal block for a few years now and an updated look was due. This quilted one from J.Crew hits it out of the park. Who knew? All I wanted was a quilted version of my favorite jacket. Quilted or not, the field jacket is a must-have for any closet; it can be it’s such a staple for my grab-and-go outfits. Usually, this would be my weekend go-to jacket, but I find my style to be much more casual these days so it’s become my everyday go-to jacket.

The other issue with a field jacket is it can only last a few months, as it’s not super thick or heavy. It’s more of a layering piece, so I love that this updated look is quilted. It gives this jacket a longer timeline of wear for me and my Texas “fall” and winter. (You notice my sarcastic use of quotation marks around fall, yes? I’d kill for a yellow or orange leaf to fall around here.)

An easy pairing with this jacket is, of course, stripes. The easiest actually, but sometimes the easiest pair is the best pair.  There has never been a more classic combination than a field jacket and a striped tee. I decided to punch up my typical stripes game with a nice red and white striped tee. I’m usually a navy stripe kind of gal, so this red stripe tee is just pure rebellion. Pure rebellion. What’s next for this wild Monday? Well, I’m obviously living with reckless abandon over here so I’ll probably drink another coffee this afternoon and wonder why I can’t go to sleep tonight. THIS is Living on the edge, people. Childbirth has really changed me. 😉

Fit Details

This jacket fits true to size! I am in the medium here. It’s fully lined in striped, too. So fancy! The tee fits a bit more snugly than it shows on the model, so I sized up. You do you, though.

Monthly Capsule Wardrobe

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.

  1. If this jacket was half the price, I’d snag it in an instant. Such a classic look and I have heard nothing but great things about it! If only New York had a longer fall and a shorter winter, I would justify the price in a heartbeat.
