When I started thinking about the baby shower, I knew I wanted to do something at home with close friends and family. (Ok, ok initially I wanted it in the backyard, this elaborate Pinterest worthy affair, but everyone talked me out of it. Sometimes I forget we don’t live in California and a hot June morning in Texas is not to be messed with.) We ended up having it at our house and truth be told, I did most of the planning. I am and will always be a do it yourself kind of girl, so I didn’t mind one bit. Thankfully I have good friends who insisted on helping and it all came together so easily. We spent the first half of the morning eating and chatting with everyone and showing off the nursery. (This is why it was finished so early! A few people asked how I was able to get it done so quickly — because I knew people were coming to my house!) And the other half was opening gifts and cutting cake and macarons. Fact: baby likes macarons.

It was truly the best day, celebrating little baby girl and opening the things that I hope she needs and will love. It’s actually kind of hard registering for the first time. I told my mom that I think I learned how to parent from all of the amazon reviews. People can leave some in-depth reviews and as a first time mom, I am not mad at it. I went quite minimal on my registry, getting the basics and knowing that we can always figure it out as we go along. (That and Amazon Prime 2-day shipping is always a comfort.) I didn’t want to end up with things we didn’t use, because it seems like a waste. I have an upcoming post on our registry, so I’ll share more details then. Oh and how cute were my little gift opening helpers? Nothing like two 4 year olds to help you tear into some gifts. My niece was so excited about the baby shower but she kept telling me she didn’t want to bathe at my house. She never did figure out why we called it a shower. 🙂

As far as details go, I knew I didn’t want anything too crazy as far as decoration and I love flowers so much (see my insta-feed) so a friend of a friend created these beautiful flower boxes and this insane floral mantle piece on site. It was truly incredible. (If you are local, my cake was from Layered Bake Shop and our macarons were from Savor Patisserie. Both are highly recommended!) One favorite thing a friend surprised me with was the favor bag. It was of all my cravings. Basically everything sweet, so the good stuff. 😉

As far as my dress, I had this Anthropologie dress picked out well before we even had a shower date. It’s the perfect shower dress, but obviously I’m going to say that because I’m partial. (It does run big! So don’t size up, if anything size down.)
