Okay so we actually found out whether our little one is girl or a boy a few weeks ago. Being the blogger I am I had this fantastic idea for a reveal post. It involved a lot of moving parts — mainly us going to this one very specific section of a beach in California and finding the perfect dress, setting, just the right amount of wind and sunset, etc. And while we are never two people who scoff on a trip or a project, life happened and the shoot kept getting pushed back and back. When I realized hey it might not happened, I also realized that my procrastination has lead to keeping it a secret from you guys! It has become harder and harder not to call him or her on my posts and I’ve definitely ignored instastories / snapchat because I knew it would come out of my mouth. So if you’re wondering what took me so long, it’s me not you. Perfection and procrastination is a dangerous combination.

So without further ado…

Baby Skeen is a girl!

I had a feeling since about month 3 that I was having a girl. People would ask what I thought it was and I answered girl which garnered many different responses; some people said it would be the opposite of what you thought, others said that they knew too, they just had that feeling. I was excited either way and I was skeptical of my own ability to know the gender to say the least, but something in me felt like it was a girl. When we found out, it was so exciting. There she was, our little baby girl. Who also does full on gymnastics during sonograms. We currently have one shot of her butt and one of only her toes because she just doesn’t want to sit still during the doctor’s office visits. Already full of spirit, I like it.

I think when we found out she was a girl and saw the sonogram that is when it became really real for me. I was sick until about week 18 so it was hard to focus on the finish line, but once we saw her movements and then a few weeks later I started to feel her kick, it all became very real. We’ve got 14 more weeks until she gets here. I *might* be a nervous wreck, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from me.

Don’t worry, I’m preparing the extra closests now. 😉

    1. We are on the same timeline! I love it!

We are also on the same pregnant during the hot, hot summer plan together. ha!

  1. This is so exciting! I also knew with both of my babies what they were around 3-4 months – but it’s definitely hard to trust that instinct because it’s so un-explainable. So excited for you and Bryan!

    1. Did you?? I’m not kidding every mom that I talked to were in either camps — it was the opposite of what they thought or they just knew. It was hard to trust that but now I feel like I can see the future. haha!

PS Can not believe how big Rooney is now! Happened so fast!

  2. yay!!! Can’t wait to see how you dress her in future posts 🙂 Here’s to a speedy and healthy delivery!

  3. Congrats! Having a girl is so much fun. You can dress her up yet still do sporty stuff! My little girl is nicknamed Tank in the family since she’s so rough but she wouldn’t pass up a faux fur coat any day 🙂

  4. congrats! i “knew” with both of mine. that mother’s intuition 😉 my first was due in august, and if i may make a suggestion…..watch father of the bride 2 and take notes during their whole “freeze everyone out with extra air conditioners” scene. you’ll still be hot, but it’ll at least make you feel like you’ve tried!
    best of luck! xoxo

  5. Congratulations! I am SO excited for you guys! I have two girls and it’s literally the best thing EVER! Much love,
    Jenn

  6. I completely agree that it becomes so much more real when you find out the sex. I took a blood test and found out from a midwifery student at my OB’s office who was so sweet. When she said, “it’s a BOY!” I immediately burst into tears. There was so much emotion in that moment I couldn’t keep it in!
After that I couldn’t stop noticing baby boys every where I went. I started looking at little outfits online. I still remember how magical that all was! It really helps you wrap your brain around this huge change that’s coming.

  7. Congrats mama! We’re expecting a baby girl, too (due October)! Hope all of your nausea is gone and you can kick back and relax a bit for the last half of your pregnancy. You look so beautiful!

  8. Congratulations! I’m a boy mom so I can’t wait to see all the fun girl things to come!

  9. Yay!!! I’m feeling a girl for us, sitting here still sick as a dog at 17 weeks, I did NOT get the memo on how hard the sickness was and that it can last so long! You’re looking radiant and gorgeous as ever! Can I ask if you’ve found a good strapless bra for under your off the shoulder outfits? I’m stuggling with my *ahem now more giant then ever chest???

    Congratulations ❤️

  10. Aww congrats! I’m due in early September with a girl too. I also had a feeling it was a girl, such a strange feeling! It definitely feels more real now. Please show us the baby’s room when you’re done decorating!

  11. CONGRATS! Girls are so fun! I’m due with my second (a BOY) in September.

I love this announcement – simply but pretty 🙂

  12. OMG SO EXCITING!! I told Bryan that he was destined be surrounded by beautiful women his entire life 🙂 Can’t wait to meet little baby girl Skeen!

  13. Yay congrats! PS So great meeting you at rStheCon. I don’t think I’d be a fashion blogger if I didn’t stumble onto yours while starting my “writing portfolio”. What a joke that was, thankful for stumbling onto your site!

  14. We are 27 weeks tomorrow with a girl and I knew she was a girl pretty much from the beginning! I couldn’t explain it, but I kept saying I’d be shocked if she were a boy. Isn’t that weird?

  15. Congratulations!! So excited for you! I type this with my two month old little boy sleeping on my chest :). I wanted a girl really badly, I even had dreams it was a girl, but as we got closer to finding out, I started dreaming he was a boy, and thinking of him as a “he.” I still wouldn’t say I “knew,” I was probably just preparing myself in the event we didn’t have a girl. By the way, once he got here, all feelings of wishing he was a girl went completely out the window!

  16. I love it! You are going to be the best mom (and best dressed, of course)!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your fun journey with us!

  17. Congratulations!

You might already know this but there’s a study that shows over 75% of mothers correctly guess their baby’s sex. Isn’t that so cool? I knew all three of mine were girls, but on pregnancy #2 was thrown off when the ultrasound tech told me she thought she spotted a teeny weenie. I was vindicated at birth haha!

    Congrats again! That’s very exciting.

    1. I didn’t know that!! I love that. I really did have a feeling but you know — it’s hard to trust that! Oh my gosh I love that. A mother’s instinct right?

I can’t believe you had 3 girls! HOW FUN!

      🙂

  18. Congratulations for your girl! Very, very happy for the two of you, soon to be three of you!

  19. Aww, congraulations! It might not be the ebach and the sunset and the wind but this is still a lovely way to announce it! 🙂

It will be so fun having a girl, and so sweet her little personality is coming through already with the ultrasounds!

    Congrats again! 🙂

Hope you are having a good start to the week 🙂
