I wanted to do a fun little round up of a few of my favorite pieces for spring. Each year my essentials change (except for a few die hard pieces, I’m looking at you denim jacket), so I like to take a look at what my favorite essentials are for the new season.

01. Denim Jacket

I am pleasantly surprised that I am still reaching for my denim jacket, year after year. I upgraded from my tried and true J.Crew jacket from years past to this partially distressed AG denim one. I wanted one with a bit less structure and this one it the bill. Perfect for layering over dresses and my go-to travel jacket.

Recommendation: AG Denim Jacket

Under $100 option: Kut from the Kloth Denim Jacket

02. Off the Shoulder Top

Thi is one of my very favorite trends that I am glad stuck around this year. I feel like it’s also one of the easiest trends for all to wear. In a top or a dress, I feel like you just can’t go wrong with this trend. Speaking to essentials only, I feel like a nice white off the shoulder top is a classic way to take this trend on during spring and summer. Perfect with skinny jeans or a suede mini skirt.

Recommendation: Cupcakes and Cashmere Lace Off the Shoulder Top

Under $100 option: Free People Crisp Off the Shoulder Top

03. Floral Dress

I don’t even feel like this one needs explanation or encouragement. I mean this is Kendi (floral dress) Every-damn-day after all. But in case you still need convincing, spring was made for florals and floral dresses were made for you. It’s hard to be unhappy in a floral dress plus they are my go to for any event or occasion for spring. Perfect with a denim jacket, a classic trench or a suede jacket tossed over your shoulders.

Recommendation: Ted Baker Floral Dress

Under $100 option: Charles Henry Floral Dress

04. Spring Wedges

Just like a denim jacket, I’m always excited for wedges to make their way back each spring. This year is no different and I’ve seen so many cute options so far! Wedges are to spring as booties are to fall. AKA the easiest way to be comfortable and still get height. Like I said, so many options these days but I just ordered these lace up ones and loved them instantly. Wear with dresses, jeans, shorts, rompers, while you sleep — the possibilities are endless.

Recommendation: Ivanka Trump Lace Up Wedges

Under $100 option: Dolce Vita Suede Wedges

05. Crossbody Bag

I love a nice boho option during the spring and especially during the summer. It’s a nice look to add to maxi dresses, rompers and your casual denim look. Plus tossing on a pretty cross body is the best on-the-go look and an easy effortless look you can achieve. Perfect for casual looks and boho vibes.

Recommendation: See by Chloe Collins Crossbody (or the mini version here!)

Under $250 option: Vince Camuto Izzi Leather Crossbody

06. Little White Dress

Yes, this is the dress I wore just the other day because I love it that much I included it in my essentials list. White dresses go hand in hand with spring (and a denim jacket!) I also feel like your styling options are endless with a white dress — keep it monochrome, casual with a denim jacket or sandals, go big with statement jewelry or heels. Talk about possibilities. Perfect for Sunday morning or any day in between; accessorize as needed.

Recommendation: BB Dakota Drop Waist Dress

Designer option: Rebecca Taylor Pique Knit Dress

07. Go-to Tee

I love having a weekend tee or a sometimes I just can’t today tee and stripes are always a friendly option to keep around! I loved this option with a fun little pocket and contrasting stripes. Perfect with jeans, cut-offs and your favorite white sneaks.

Recommendation: Bobeau Pocket Striped Tee

Under $100 option: Petit Bateau Hannah Striped Tee

08. Strappy Heel

This heel has been tempting me for years and I finally bought the Stuart Weitzman iconic heel.  This is a sleeper heel that you don’t see coming — it’s actually very, very versatile. From dressy dresses to casual dresses to boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans, this heel can handle all. I say neutral for spring and you’ll be set for heels this spring. It doesn’t quite replace a classic heel, but it does a very good job at earning it’s keep in your wardrobe. Perfect for — see above!

Recommendation: Stuart Weitzman Nudist Heel (here is the smaller heel version)

Under $150 option: Steve Madden Stecy Sandal

09. Flare Leg Jeans

I honestly can not believe I am saying this. I swore off flare jeans the minute I laid my eyes on skinny jeans this side of 10 years ago. But I will say this: they’ve been working on their fit for the past decade and it is GOOD now. Flattering, easy to wear and to pair – I am a fan. Even if I have to eat my own words. Perfect with boho blouses, crop tops, chambray tops and anything you’d pair with your other jeans. Think boho vibes!

Recommendation: Paige Transcend Flare Denim

Under $150 option: 7 For All Mankind Ginger Flares

10. Sunglasses

Always in season, of course, but I always find myself wanting to upgrade my sunnies in the spring and summer for the rest of the year. In the past I would reach for some aviators but I’m all about the structured shades this year. Karen Walker is always a favorite and they last for years. (Pending that you don’t break them or lose them to a friend who was plotting to take them all along.)

Recommendation: Karen Walker Sunglasses

Under $100 option: Quay High Emotions Sunglasses

11. Chambray Top

I just can’t let chambray go, you guys. It’s one of my go-to’s for spring and summer. But rather than finding it in dresses and jumpers this year, I’m sticking with the chambray top in an updated cut. Short sleeve or tunic, anything that updates the classic button down of springs past. Perfect to pair with denim or cutoffs, it’s always ready to wear which makes it the best essential ever.

Recommendation: Free People Chambray Top

Under $100 option: Madewell Drop Hem Chambray Tee

  1. I love this list! I have to add an off the shoulder top to my closet. Now it just needs to stop snowing so I can break out my wedges and grab an iced coffee….
