I thought that on this here casual Friday we could celebrate with two outfits. You don’t mind do you? Let’s talk new denim for fall. Denim is one of those things that never really goes out of style, but it’s always nice to update yours every few seasons. That’s why I love black denim. Black denim is hands down one of my absolute standards for fall. It used to feel edgy to me and I would reach for edgier tops, but now it’s just as go-to as my blue denim. That’s the beauty of black denim — it can feel edgy, casual or fancy. You get to pick the look you want and black denim fills in the blanks.
I created two looks with my new denim from Old Navy. First look up: Sporty chic.

Hands down one of the easiest looks to recreate, there is nothing more classic than a t-shirt and jeans. I just updated the look with a banded sleeve tunic and classic heels. (For the record, this look goes perfectly with sneaks. Tested and approved.)

The second look is a staple look for me: the relaxed button down and skinny jeans. Casual Friday at it’s best. You still look pulled together but it’s a classic casual feel. There is also something to wearing black denim that doesn’t feel as casual as blue denim. It always feels a bit more elevated to me.

See what I mean? Black denim is magic. It can go from edgy and sporty to classic and chic in a single bound. Can everything be as easy as that?

  1. I agree 100% that you just can’t beat black. I love the fun detailing on the knees to give these jeans a bit of edge.

Both looks are perfect for this time of year, but I really love the casual vibe of the t-shirt.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Always impressed by how you pull things off. I bought the inverse of that sporty tee and it did NOT look anywhere near that cute on me!

  3. Wow, what a great set of outfits and photographs. You really rock them all! You’ve inspired me to put that little bit extra into my wardrobe !
