Sometimes there is nothing better than a good white tee. Each summer I find myself searching for a favorite tee, something easy but essential. A white tee is a must for summertime.

In my search of tees, I was introduced to ZADY, an online shop dedicated to sustainable styles. I stumbled upon their essential tee and realized how great this t-shirt’s story was. While I may not strike you as a small town girl, I spent many summers on my grandparent’s land learning the basics of our family’s farms: cotton and cattle. Coming from a long line of cotton farmers, it’s fun to know that this little tee started in a cotton row from my hometown, Lubbock, Texas — grown, harvested, ginned and baled. It’s also amazing that I know what each of those steps looks like. I especially love that each piece of this process stayed in the states. Grown in Texas, spun and sewed in North Carolina. Even though it’s 100% organic cotton, a perfect fit of not to slouchy and not too tight, makes a denim skirt look on point, I love that it’s from my hometown the most.  It somehow feels a little bit more timeless to me. It’s nice to always have a little bit of home with you.

Since ZADY was a new to me brand, I thought it would be nice to introduce you to their lines of essentials and their conscious commitment to being transparent about their pieces origins. They create their own line of essentials and curate other brands who are equally conscious about their collections. I’ve pulled a few of my favorites below. (PS: Just as a heads up, their tee’s sell out fast because of the small batches they make! If you don’t make it, sign up for their waitlist.)

    1. I agree! I’ve even washed it and worn it a few times and it feels the same as when I got it! It’s that Texas cotton that I’ll take credit for. 😉

  2. I didn’t know Lubbock was your hometown! That’s so funny. I have the same/opposite story! (That doesn’t make sense does it?)

I mostly grew up around the DFW area and then moved to Lubbock in my late teens!

  6. Oh wow, everything in the shop is so cute! I really appreciate sustainable and conscious brands. It’s crazy how much work goes into a company like Zady, and I love when they become successful. The top goes great with the skirt, and I love the print on your clutch!

Also, I had a chance to stop by West & Lou a couple weeks back. I absolutely loved everything! I was so happy that I got to visit since I’ve been reading your blog for so long.

  7. Kendi, I absolutely love your outfits! I read your blog daily and decided to comment. I always love how you put together your outfits. The Texas heat can be oppressive (I’m in Houston) and you always look cool and chic! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

    1. You are the nicest!! Thanks girl! And this heat is the worst ever, isn’t it?? It’s supposed to hit 100 here today. (save me.)

  14. Thank you for sharing a sustainable and socially conscious brand! Also, I love how you were able to make this very basic piece into a full fashion post. I’ve been trying to think more about investing in quality, conscious clothing and get away from wasteful trend shopping, so I would love to see more brands like this featured! Love it.

  19. How funny that I just found my own perfect white slouchy t-shirt and wrote about it today! I love to hear about local companies that keep old traditions alive — it’s always worth supporting their businesses by buying their unique products and owning such unusal things is also good for your soul, as you feel you have contributed in some small way.
