It took me a few years to decide that yes, in fact I am a hat kind of girl. Before I lacked the needed confidence it takes to wear a hat. You can’t wear a hat if you don’t want to be seen. Those are the rules. In fact I think that’s why it took me a while to decide to hat or not to hat, because it seems like everyone notices it. As a girl who would rather slink into a room quietly than make a loud entrance (and self consciousness only fuels this paranoia of being noticed), I had to realize that while a hat does draw a certain amount of attention, that attention is not always a bad thing. Hats are head turners for sure, but it’s good to stand out.
These days I have to tell myself to not shoot outfit photos with a hat. I want to add one to every single outfit. I’ve pulled a few of my favorite hats for the summer above! My one hat trick? Make sure it fits.  Too big or too small and you won’t feel comfortable. And if you are new to hats, start with a classic Panama shape – J.Crew has a great one that lasts for years.

    1. How sad, but I love that you call it a traveling accident! Traveling with a hat is a bit of a nuisance, especially on flights, unless you pack it in your suitcase. You can’t sit with a hat on for hours and placing it in the overhead bin will crush it. The real panama hats can be rolled together, so I need to invest in one of those to come travelling with me. A great excuse to invest in yet another hat…

  1. p[[p top CashRun time with kendieveryday… < Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $177 per hour. 2. Oh, you really shouldn’t make any posts about hats, as I think I’m addicted and might need an intervention! 14 different ones and counting… I wore something similar to the classic panama hat (btw gorgeous!) in the wind yesterday and that was not a great look — the hat was more in my hand than on my head of fear of it blowing into the street and becoming road kill! 😉

    1. 14!! You deserve an award! 🙂 I agree that the wind + hat combination is not a good look. But when the weather is just right, it is a perfect accessory. 🙂

  6. Ugh fit is the story of my life. Hats never fit my melon! Any recommendations for stores that have hats that AREN’T one-size fits most?

  8. I totally relate to needing to get comfortable wearing hats – they seem so dramatic. Now, I absolutely adore them.
