The sun has finally decided to show its face and I could not be happier about it. I mean look at that girl jumping in the streets. Now that is happy.  Plus I got to give my new dress a spin since I could get away with bare legs. So I’ve discovered a new love for flats lately. Is this 30? Probably. But I read some sage advice on Cupcakes and Cashmere about when to wear heels and when to wear flats, according to French women and loved the idea. On her post a reader said that they (the French) wear flats when a skirt is above the knee and heels when it is below the knee. I’ve decided to try this look out lately and actually really like this rule. In fact, I’d been eyeing a pair of d’Orsay flats because they have the structure I love of a heel but they are easier to wear everyday and throughout the day, especially long days at the shop. They were a bit of a splurge but I’ve worn them so many times since purchasing them last month that I’ve never looked back. (I linked a similar option below, too!) Of course, I’ll never be able to leave a heel behind but the option of a flat these days is looking better and better. Hashtag things I never thought I’d say.

  1. Oh my. This is one of my favorite outfits of yours, ever. I love finally seeing flats on your blog!:) For me anyway, they are a more practical option as a mama who wants to be stylish but comfortable. Also, love the tip on flats vs. heels. Good to know! Enjoy the sunshine! xo
p.s. I'm so glad shop girl selfies are back in business on Instagram. They are some of my favorite pics of yours on there!

  2. Ugh it looks like the ones at Nordstrom are on a waitlist! Sorry about that. This is the light blue gradient with gold frames. I'll try to find another link for them!

  3. Good rule. I don't stick to it 100% of the time, but I do sort of unconsciously follow it. For me, it's more about looking professional at work. I feel like if my skirt is shorter, I want to make sure I'm not going too sexy so I'll wear a low heel or flats. But if I'm wearing a longer skirt or pants, I want to make sure I don't look frumpy so I prop myself up a little higher. Anyway, YAY SUN & SHOES OF ALL KINDS!

  4. I read that article too and am totally excited to try it. (Winter pants don't always agree with me and that rule). I agree with the rule, plus, the French style is just so uber chic that how can you not want to try something so chic?!
