When I think of my go-to’s during the colder seasons, a few things come to mind: hat or beanie, booties, scarves, coats and huge, big cozy sweaters. But I also have an essential for winter that I don’t ever talk about because it’s not glamours: winter skincare. I’ve always just had typical dry hands and elbows in the winter and I typically combat this with general hand lotion or body lotion. So a few weeks ago I was approached by Target and they asked me if I had any trouble areas with my skin in the winter. ‘YES’ was the quick reply and they asked if I wanted to try Skinfix hand lotion, which is formulated for us lucky ones who suffer from eczema or pesky winter dryness. While it’s not quite winter here in Texas yet, I swear my skin decides early on that it’s close enough to winter and starts to dry out. I started using Skinfix lotion a couple of days ago on my hands and can already tell a difference. I feel like instead of going into winter unprepared, I’ll be ready for when the cold air decides to turn against my skin and my hands.
I also forced my husband to use it on his hands as well. Bonus for him– it doesn’t really have a fragrance (or parabens or anything else added) and plus, he is the perfect guinea pig because has dry skin, especially on his paws. [He said it smelled like Christmas (it doesn’t.) He also said it feels like butter (it does.)] Even after the first application I could immediately feel a difference. It is now added as a must-have on my list; kind of the hidden essential of winter. It’s my trick up my sleeve this winter.

What about you? What are your winter essentials — style or beauty wise?

  1. Need to try that lotion! The older I get…the more my skin reacts to weather changes. Even here in sunny Ca! My husband is a nut about lotion (and chapstick…ha ha!) so may have to pick him up some for his stocking this year! Oh, and the outfit is FAB!

  2. That sweater is just too pretty! Too bad it’s not quite cold enough here to pull out any sweaters yet. I’ll need to check out that hand cream. My poor hands are constantly dry. Thanks for the tip!

  3. That sweater looks like the coziest sweater EVER TO EXIST. I said it! Nordstrom says it runs large and to size down – how did you find the fit? I mean, sweaters like that are supposed to be roomy right?

  4. Cute, cozy outfit, and I love the hat! I also love your shade of lipstick! Would you mind sharing the color? My hands get dry in the winter, too. I’ll have to check out this lotion. 🙂 I love gloves that are tech compatible for winter… not that I need gloves in CA, but I’m a wimp about cold hands. 🙂

  8. Its basically all about trendy accessories and that is what women bother the most which is a good thing because fashion should be the one that is in trends.
