Do you ever buy a dress and you love it so much you don’t want to wear it? Let me explain. I love this little white dress. I want to wear it every day. But then I talk myself out of it — ‘you’ll get something on it‘ or ‘save it for this day or this occasion’ or ‘if you were this dress, you can’t eat ketchup so maybe don’t wear it.’ I don’t know why I do this to my favorite things, saving them for a rainy day. But I put an end to my hoarding ways and wore it all weekend mixing it with flats or heels, depending on where we went.  Please tell me I’m not the only one who buys pretty things, loves them to pieces only to store away in her closet away from the light of day. Oh wait — yep, I’m the only crazy person who does that. Don’t do as I say or do, ok?
I bought these shoes with every intention of wearing them for fall. I have to be sneaky with fall shoes because it’s not cool enough here for full on coverage shoes like booties, but I still want it to feel like fall. I feel like these booties will do the trick. Plus they are actually comfortable, something I cannot say about a lot of my shoes. I’m getting to the age where I can not lie about comfort any more — what was once comfortable at 24 is now excruciating at 29. Is my love of heels waning you ask? Never. My feet are just going to have to learn to love it … or possibly learn to go numb. I’m fine with either.

  1. I do the same exact thing. I always "save" pieces I love so much, and then I never end up wearing them! Glad to know I am not the only person who does that.

  2. I am scared of white. Don't wear white around kids!! I am not sure you follow Kendall, but her style is like yours. She loves dresses!! Her blog is styledsnapshots.com

  3. Oh I totally do that! It's like no occasion is as special as the dress, so I wait and wait and then the season is over and I never wore the damn dress. Ridic. Love this outfit and glad you didn't wait on it 🙂

  4. I do that all the time with my favorite clothes. But I saw some advice about life being too short, so we should use the "good silverware" every day, so I've been trying to do that–not saving things I love for a special occasion.

  5. I do the exact same thing! I have about a billion dresses lurking in my closet, things I'm "saving" for a special occasion, items I'm hiding away that I don't want to wear out too soon. But the dress you are wearing here is gorgeous and should be worn absolutely everywhere! It's too beautiful to hide away in a closet 🙂 xx

  6. Kendi, you are so looking hot and sexy. Please share your secret so maybe I can get lots of new things too. Do you get free stuff, discounts, commission? How do companies know if your readers are the ones who buy their merchandise? Pleasssssse share how you get all these nice things.

  7. I totally do that! Also, I lust after white things like that dress but never buy them for the same reason. I have 2 kids, soooo… I probably would get something on it. So my neighbors probably think I'm a goth queen, haha.

  8. I totally do that too! I get new things but then I'm afraid when I wear/use them they'll get dirty, so I end up keeping them in my closet for months before actually wearing them… I just recently started to break out of this habit and I'm so glad I'm not the only person that does this haha.

  9. Such a lovely dress! And I'm the same way. I'll buy a dress that looks gorgeous on the hanger…and it somehow ends up staying on the hanger until next summer!

  10. Nope! Totally do that too. ALL THE TIME. That is one pretty dress.

  11. Love the shoes!! At 47 my feet beg for comfy shoes. Why is it so hard to find cute shoes that don't kill your feet?

  12. A) I "save" pieces all the time and it drives me nuts that I do it but glad I'm not alone B) Those booties are incredible. I'd be wearing those nonstop! and C) You rock a swing dress girl!!

  13. I do the same thing. It's like, I don't want to "waste" a wear or something. I realize it's a bit crazy, but it makes sense to me.

Loving the dress! It's so flowy and pretty and it looks great with those killer shoes.

    Something About That

  14. I totally know what you mean. It kind of goes along with the quote "the fear of wasting a great outfit on an insignificant day". I always save my amazing clothes for significant days, only to realize that any day could be significant…right? Unless I know of some amazing event I need to wear it to! But yeah, I know what you mean. Lol.

  15. That is such a cute flowy dress 🙂 I do the same thing – I'm always "saving" clothes to wear later, for a "better" occasion. I'm trying to stop doing it so much, as it means I rarely wear my favourite pieces!

  16. I, too, save things because I like them so much… But it is especially true with anything white… I "save" them until they are no longer in style or don't fit… Then I feel badly about the waste… Thought I was alone, but now I realize there are many of us. You look great! Glad you didn't save it for some better time!

  17. It looks like there are a bunch of us out there who save our pretty things! I do it because I don't want to ruin them. So, I guess that's going well. I'm glad to hear you've been wearing this dress a lot! You look fantastic 🙂

  18. I recently did a HUGE clear of my wardrobe (closet) – the idea being that I only kept clothes that I love. Why not wear something you absolutely love every day?? Ok, easier said than done, but that's my aim.

  19. I do that all of the time. I guess I don't want those special pieces to lose their magic.

  20. I do think that way but what always come to mind is…. that's what dry cleaners are for. You look great in this dress. I'm not usually a fan of this peasant inspired type of short in scale type of dress, however it looks great, especially since you styled it with such a great sandel/bootie. You look really pretty.

  21. Yes! I do this too! If I have a piece that I know I am going to wear for an occasion, I don't wear it until then. I also don't cut off the tags until I actually walk out of the house with my clothes…maybe that makes me crazy…? I a saver who can't commit!

  22. Cute dress!!!!! I am the opposite.I can't wait to wear any new piece i get.

  23. I used to save almost all of my new shoes so they wouldn't get scuffed or wet or dirty. I'm almost over it.

  24. I do the EXACT SAME THING with my favorite most beautiful clothing pieces as well *sigh* it's a daily battle we must overcome!
