We headed out this weekend with some friends just to get out of town. Austin is my favorite city for a quick trip because you can do so much even with just a little bit of time. We didn’t hit up all of our favorite spots as that is hard to do in 36 hours. I also didn’t snap too many photos because, not to name names, but my photographer might have lost his phone. (Side note: if you find an old iPhone with a dead battery, that’s his.)

We did stop by a few favorites: Jo’s on 2nd street24 Diner (aka chicken and waffles) and Lambert’s for dinner. We also discovered (well some friends of ours discovered…) a cute hang out off east 6th called Easy Tiger. They had ping pong tables and PBR, you guys. It was hipster paradise; made these almost 30 year olds feel young again.  (As we sat there with our wine and cheese plates.)

Thankfully, our 36 hours in Austin went by slowly. We just needed to get away for just a day or so. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery, you know? We are packing up the store this week (Saturday is the last day for bloom! Lots of feels, I’m not going to lie.) and things are looking kind of sad. My posts might be a bit sporadic this week and next, but I promise once things settle down we will get back to our regularly scheduled outfits.
What about you – have any fun weekend trips planned?

  2. also, I meant to type more before I hit enter… It was so nice to meet you at your sip & shop a few weeks ago. I’m the one from New York that lives/works at UTD and was pumped to move down here cause I knew your shop was close 🙂 it’ll be sad to visit McKinney and not see the shop right there, looking all cute with your red door.

  3. You picked a great weekend to visit! I love Easy Tiger, I actually just discovered it too. We were probably there at the same time (since I have been there every night since Friday–my friend just moved into the building behind it).

  4. next time you stop in to Easy Tiger, make sure you get a pretzel with beer cheese! it is THE BEST. you came such a perfect weekend, weather wise! a blog friend of mine came to visit the city over the weekend, so i got to do all of my favorite things and show her around. it was basically awesome.

    1. Hey Jackie! Here is the post about bloom: https://www.kendieveryday.com/2014/03/all-good-things.html

Thanks for the kind words. We were doing great, but someone bought the building we were in and wants to use it for their own store, so out we go! We have to vacate the building by the 30th of April and haven’t not found another space yet because of the quick turn around. The link above explains it much better 🙂

  19. What happened with Bloom? Could someone refer me to a post to catch me up on things?

      1. Thanks, Kendi! You and your husband hold on to each other, take a breather, and enjoy those weekends. You’re going to be just fine. Lots of positive vibes and prayers are continually heading your way from all of us.

  26. If you liked the Easy Tiger, check out Kung Fu Bar. Old school arcade games plus jenga; all games free all day Sunday; build your own bloody Mary bar!

  27. It’s so cool that you were here in Austin this past weekend! I wish it hadn’t been quite so cloudy, but I can understand why it’s the best place for a quick weekend getaway. I feel like I’ve been on a “quick weekend getaway” for the past three years I’ve lived here! Come back soon!

  31. This may be too late to be useful, especially if the phone is dead, but the Find My iPhone app is pretty awesome. You can download it from your computer, and sign in on any other iOS device, then you can lock the phone and even put up a message asking someone to call you if they find it. I lost my iPhone the other day in an Austin parking lot, and the people who found it actually called and gave it back!
