I know I’m no longer in a traditional office setting but I still get excited for casual Friday. I think it’s just been imbedded in my brain to wait until Friday to really let loose. I remember in my office days when some people really took casual to a new level — we are talking a pair of shoes and a bed away from being considered pajamas. While I silently nodded their bravery of very casual at the office, I could never quite get to that level of comfort on Friday. My casual days always included heels. The fact that I’m wearing sneaks to work today well, this is huge. Baby steps, right? (I have to say though, these pants are calling for a good pair of heels. I see a long relationship this spring with these pants. Heels included.)

I was hoping to confuse you with the title of this post and make you think that I took the plunge and got the J.Law. That would never happen because what you guys don’t know is that my head is the size of a gourd. If you’ve ever seen a pixie on a gourd, it’s not a beautiful thing. I have to have hair to cover this vegetable that sits on my neck.
Well that got sufficiently weird fast. (Pants, Kendi, talk about your pants.)
Back on topic, I picked up these new pixie pants at Old Navy a few weeks ago and I was so excited about them because they fit perfect (aka they. are. stretchy) and, as you know, I love a good printed pant. And then…then they just kind of sat in my closet. I would look at them every day and wondered what I could do with them. I thought about mixing stripes with them but I’ve been there and done that. Chambray? A great option, but I wanted to try something new so I was stumped. Until today, I thought why not sneaks? I’ve not yet been there. So today I ventured into ‘comfy chic’ territory. So far, so very good.

    1. They are so comfy! But the kind of comfy that still looks put together you know? I actually sized up one size because I wanted to have a little bit more room, but I love them.

  2. Hair tutorial, plz? I have this exact same cut, but yours always looks WAY better.

  3. I really love the pants, I never would have guessed they are from Old Navy! I’ve also never been one for a graphic tee, but I am liking what J.Crew has put out this season. Looks really cute.

  4. haha you are too funny. You head is not a gourd. Love the pants + sneaker combo

  5. I bought the sweatshirt you featured from Old Navy in both navy and oatmeal and absolutely love them. In fact, I’m wearing the oatmeal one with a plaid shirt underneath for Casual Day today. So, now I am in pursuit of these Old Navy pants. I have Converse and that same J Crew Factory jean jacket, so I’m going to attempt this look. Thank you so much for your creativity and stellar fashion sense!!!

  6. I kind of want to try the new Old Navy Pixie pants, but I’m scared that a) they’ll be too short and I won’t be able to work them. b) They’ll turn into mom jeans.

  7. This look is adorable. This weekend I am determined to find the perfect jean jacket, wish me luck!

  8. Oh, Kendi. It’s impossible to read your posts without literally LOL’ing, or at the very least smiling as I read along. Makes it pretty much impossible to pretend I’m hard at work at work!

Love what you did here; glad you went there. Pinned onto my Vicarious Style board. 🙂

This might be a silly question, but you seem to be all over that sleeve roll game! Could you show us how you rolled the sleeves on that adorable jean jacket?
