Holiday parties can be the worst to try to dress for, especially if the invite is vague. I had a customer in the store just the other day who couldn’t figure out what ‘holiday attire’ meant for a party she was attending. In her desperation, she turned to google.

“It was from cocktail dresses to ugly sweaters. Google left me with nothing.” Her party, we determined, was going to be cocktail attire so a sparkly one-shoulder number would be just fine. But it was a close one. No one wants to show up to an ugly sweater party looking pretty.

Let’s get something straight: I have never been invited to a cocktail dress appropriate holiday party.  (However, there is always hope for next year that we meet friends fancy enough to throw a fancy christmas party.) The holiday parties I attend are usually casual to the point of not even being allowed to be called parties, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dress the part, even if it’s not a cocktail dress. When I saw these pants at Old Navy, I knew I was on to something. I mean, tuxedo pants? That kind of sounds fancy. I think I shall pour myself a cocktail and get this party started.

  1. All the parties we attend are always super casual and festive is optional. I would say most just wear their everyday stuff and nothing festive at all. Those are some great tuxedo pants. I have been wanting a contrasting pair but not sure I am bold enough for them yet. Love this look paired with the plaid peaking out.

I absolutely adore your outfit!! The pants, with the pop of color with the plaid blouse. It's holiday style perfection 🙂 I'm styling an old navy plaid top on my blog as well …with a sequin skirt!!
