Today I treated myself to the empty calorie drink that is the epitome of fall: a pumpkin spice latte. While I was ordering the girl interrupted me and told me today was pumpkin day. (I had no idea or I would have dressed appropriately.) Then she told me that I could buy a loaf of pumpkin bread and get a free pumpkin, if I wanted to. I declined because no way could I carry a loaf and a pumpkin and a latte. Had they offered me a nice purse to put them all in, then I would have agreed. Now that’s a way to celebrate pumpkin day.

So… I think this top makes me look slightly pregnant. Why do I think this? Two people asked me if I was,  and one told me I was glowing. And I answered yes, and told them I was registered at Madewell.

  1. You were offered a free pumpkin with the purchase of a loaf of pumpkin bread?? This has got to be the best BOGO offer ever! haha I am jealous that the only thing I ever get with the purchase of a slice of pumpkin loaf is crumbs all over my chin, in my hair, and on my lap.

  2. “Yeah, I’m pregnant… with a PUMPKIN! Happy Pumpkin Day!” *runs away laughing, buzzed from pumpkin spiced latte – naturally*

    1. I definitely just laughed out loud (literally) at work when I read this.
Your posts always cheer me up and I love your sense of humour 🙂

  3. i have a cardigan like this from last season. thanks for the style inspiration!

  4. It does, a bit; that’s the nature of the flowy comfort beast! I just embrace it, like you did. Or sometimes I’ll gasp and look down and ask, “Am I?!”

  5. It would make a lovely maternity outfit 😉
PS, I love fall, but I don’t like pumpkin (cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, yes! pumpkin squash… no). I’m enigmatic, I suppose.

  6. Well, the top is a bit maternity-ish (I should know, what with the five kids and all…I had twins since I visited your shop, just fyi ;)), but YOU do not look pregnant wearing it. But responding that you’re registered at Madewell? Now, that was a stroke of genius.

  7. Love that sweater! And no way does that top make you look pregnant….and what kind of person asks?! Hilarious.

  8. Lattes are made with milk. Milk has calcium and protein…hence, not empty calories! But but be careful having too much caffeine now that you’re expecting 😉 I agree with the other people who have said that the top just looks like a maternity top, so that’s probably why people asked. You’re dressed like a pregnant woman but you don’t LOOK like a pregnant woman.

  9. I am pregnant…. and girl, you look no where near preggo. I can’t wait for this bambino to born so I can hold him and all that but also so I can shop in non-maternity stores/sections like Madewell!

  10. I am obsessed with this sweater & actually laughed out loud at your post !!! Should have gone big & said you were registered at Chanel !!!!
You def don’t look prego but you made the right choice to pair a floaty top with a long necklace..that should help to de-bulk a bit

  11. What size cardigan are you wearing. Would love to order one, but questioning the sizing.
    Thanks!

  12. I love the tribal print of your cardigan.

  13. Also I had a second grader in one of my classes ask me if I was pregnant one day. I was so embarrassed! I love your idea of telling them you are registered at Madewell.. (not that that would have worked with a second grader….)

  17. I love your humor Kendi. This outfit is great, I've been on the hunt for a good tribal print cardigan for since last fall!!

  19. This is one of my favorites – great, simple look. I love your hair! I think it’s true that you’re glowing, but it’s also true that people should never ask someone that unless it’s beyond obvious.

  21. You look adorable Kendi! I would have accepted the pumpkin loaf and hidden the pumpkin under my shirt on the way home to really give the people what they want. 😉

  22. LOVE this outfit! The top especially….love that olive color and that shape is so flattering!

  23. Pregnant-looking nope.
    Glowing – yep.

One day, in the hopefully-not-too-distant-future, I am going to have to be in the States at the right time of year, and in the right state, to try one of these pumpkin spice lattes. I can get plain spice or plain vanilla here in Tasmania, but if I asked for a pumpkin spice, I think they’d ship me off to the funny farm.

  24. It would make a lovely maternity outfit 😉

  30. Kendi, I know I don’t comment nearly as much as I read (every day), but I just gotta give a shout because I have been LOVING your fall outfits these days. you’re killing me with style, girlfriend.

  31. I agree that one should never ask if pregnant unless a bump is obvious which for me wasnt until about 7 months. Its just rude.

  41. Great casual look!!!! I dont’ think you look pregnant in this top. Yes it’s a flowy top but you don’t look like you have a belly underneath it.

  53. This picture made me so happy! Why? Because a) I love your style so much and new posts always make me happy, and b) I ALREADY OWN THIS SWEATER!!! Feeling super stylish!
