I’m so so so excited to finally show you what I’ve been working on with Gap Styld.By! I immediately knew that I wanted to style the Gap 1969 Denim Vest because it’s a piece that stays around (and keeps coming back) for a reason. (I’ve been saying this since last spring. Am I a trend forecaster or what?) It’s like the denim jacket in that it’s a classic but such a versatile piece from year to year. Plus it’s the perfect layer for spring. I styled it with a pop of pastel but kept the rest of the outfit pretty basic, especially with the white V-Neck Pocket Tee. You can’t go wrong with a denim vest and a v-neck. (Pinterest confirmed this for me, as well.)

  1. Who knew a denim vest could be this adorable!? LOVE this outfit, especially with the pastel maxi skirt and that pretty necklace. And I’m loving the clutch. Basically I love this entire outfit. You look so pretty!

  2. I really like how you buttoned the top of the vest and layered pretty baubles on top. It’s different as I feel most people would leave the vest open and layer the necklace underneath, the necklace really gives the vest an extra pop! I really like it, will definitely be recreating in my closet 🙂

  5. How exciting to work with Gap! And you look so fantastic! That pastel maxi is so pretty. I am thinking I may need to add a denim vest to my wardrobe. They come and go, but they always come back around!

  13. I have been looking for a denim vest forever, but couldn’t seem to find one that wasn’t acid washed or super distressed. So excited that GAP seems to have exactly what I am looking for! On my way there as we speak (well after I am done typing…)!

  23. there’s a denim polka dot vest at forever21 that I cannot stop thinking about… now i’m thinking i might have to give in and go back for it.

  24. I really like how you’ve been playing around (aka, rocking) pastels lately. You have me inspired to try some out (my skin really looks better in gemstone colors, but why not!).

I’ve always put off bying a blue jean vest…especially since I rocked one for a solid few years during the 90’s, but maybe it’s time to buy an adult version???

  26. So glad to see that you have brought back the vest! The last time I owned one was in the 90s. You know, the real Beverly Hills 90210 days? Showing my age… Love the vest and love how you styled it with such a lovely skirt!

  29. As a man, let me be the first to congratulate you on inventing the Elementary Schoolteacher Starter Kit. Add a few pieces of flare, maybe an embroidered apple or two, and bang presto, you will have yourself the perfect outfit to wear to your job teaching third grade. Maybe if you're lucky there will be an aging but still vaguely attractive principal willing to overlook your vintage-1994 denim vest and ask you out on a date.

  30. There is no such thing as a flattering denim vest. This is merely the missing middle child of the Canadian Tuxedo, and truly should be avoided at all costs.

  31. If you are going to wear flats, stand in them. Please don't wear flats and then stand on your tiptoes in all the photos. If you want to look taller (if it makes the outfit look better) then wear heels or wedges with it.

  32. that is a hideous vest, best to throw it away. what is next… leg warmers?

  33. From a guy's perspective the vest is good, but the skirt does not fit your body. Instead try something tailored more to your form (less draped table cloth, more professionally tailored skirt), or, heaven forbid, wear some khakis or jeans that would help complete the look you are going for??

  34. I guess no one wears a slip under these way sheer skirts/dresses. A slip must be so decades ago, but you know ladies, having a fabric clinging between your legs up to your crotch looks just plain cheesy. I see it all the time. Tacky tacky tacky. So glad you all don't know it all!

  35. not very flattering. It makes the woman look like she has no waist. The sleeves are too short, the skirt is way too high. I don't want to even think how it may look from behind.

  36. Live along enough and everything comes around again. Lucky for me I kept all my denim vests!
