So typically we shoot outfit photos in the morning but this morning was so cold that we had to postpone until this afternoon. Usually I can handle it, especially the “winters” in Texas, but after standing outside for more than a few seconds a string of curse words flew out of my mouth and into the nice, warm car I went. I am not proud of my potty mouth, but my friends it was just that cold. The weather needed to be cursed at, trust me.

I’m not really a fan of winter but I am a fan of warm sweaters that belong in a ski resort, such as this one. And I suppose if it takes this cold of weather to wear such a sweater, then I will suck it up, clean up my mouth and take it. For fashion’s sake, of course.

  1. Can I just say that I TOTALLY feel you on this weather right now? I am a fan of the cold weather… but it's basically impossible for me to do anything outdoors right now because it's so darn chilly! So I completely don't blame you for cursing the weather. I may or may not have done the same thing while walking the dog this afternoon.

  2. I looove that sweater! Its really cute on you. I see you've got your hair back to its original color. I liked the red tho!! 🙂 I want you to know that you are one of my top fashion icons and favorite style blogger. 🙂

  4. Love polka dot socks with skinnies and booties.
Gap has a ton of their sweaters on mega clearance lately too.

  5. So glad you posted this! I live in Boston and it's freezing for a majority of the year. Happy to see your winterized outfit post {although I do feel bad for you as I also tend to swear at the cold weather}.

  6. I have those exact same socks in tan from Target! They are so comfy and I wore them almost exactly the same way(just different colors) in a recent outfit post on my blog!

  7. Hi, Kendi!
Honestly, I don't how long I can handle winters in Romania :)! It's freezing and snowing all the time, and with the holidays being over, it's just not that fun anymore!

You look great with those glases! Cute outfit!

  11. It was so cold this morning in Kansas! I think the high was like 7 when I started my car. It's so hard to look cute in winter and take photos without a coat that completely ruins the whole look!

  12. Lol. I could just imagine you cursing and slipping into your car. It is especially cold in the bay area today too!. Not looking forward to taking a photo out in the cold, but if you can do it Kendi so can I!

  13. Texas winters are nothing compared to NORTH DAKOTA winters. Temps of -5 with windchill factors of you-don't-want-to-know. I hibernate during winter.

  14. That's exactly what I thought this morning…when they announced it was 8 degrees just as I was about to step out of my car  >:(

  15. One of my co-workers lives in Texas, so I hear all the time about how "cold" it is in Texas. And yes, I did use the quotation marks. 😉

  16. So cold today! It was a crazy sleepy day for me . The cloudy skies just wouldnt wake me up. Anyway, lovely cozy outfit. I love those shoes. I need to invest in some brown wedges.

  17. I share your hate of winter, except that I live in Canada so umm….my potty mouth is THAT much worse.

I wore those pants today, and think I'll wear shoes like that next time. Cute outfit!

  18. It's a good thing you don't live somewhere cold. People might think you have turrets syndrome.

Those polka dot socks are so delightful with the outfit! I also like how you have the neutrals next to the vibrant tomato colour of the pants.

  24. I love this look. That sweater is so cute, I'm sure it'd keep me warm enough her in Buffalo. Your pants are really make the whole outfit stand out. I think I've said this before but I love your shoes. Like really love them.

  25. You were looking lovely in your latest post, Jen. If you weren't holding a newborn I never would have known you had *just* given birth.

  26. #1 I have those socks. They're awesome and I love how you're letting them peek out. #2 I would really like to know how "cold" it was in Texas today. Because I took outfit photos this morning and it was 18 degrees. Can you beat that??

  27. I love your street photos but have you considered changing it up and doing some indoor shots of your outfits… especially on the chilly days? That way you can wear a sun dress and no one would be the wiser;)

  28. Haha I hear ya ! It has been beyond freezing/low temps in the San Francisco Bay Area , making pictures uncomfortable when the wind blows! But like you said and as my mother always tells me.. Pain is beauty! For the sake of fashion 😉

  29. You look adorable, as usual! Love how you mixed the neutral grays and tans with the red pants. Really want the shoes you have on! I'm trying to add more tans. I've always been a black person. Love your blog!

  30. Love the bright pants with the cozy sweater, and your cute socks! I definitely agree with you regarding winter – although I feel like if you can still venture outside without a jacket, you're not experiencing REAL winter (i.e. Toronto winter).

  31. I completely understand about cursing the weather. I usually take my outfit pictures in the morning as well but these past couple of days in Chicago have been miserable. Trying to smile and look like you love what you're wearing is so hard in 18 degree weather with no coat on. Oh the things we do for our blogs, haha!

  33. Love your outfit. There is nothing wrong with a potty mouth. You should here mine!!! 🙂 I've had to tone it down a lot since having my son. I've literally been living in sweaters the past 2 weeks.

  34. When I saw this outfit I thought "she looks like she belongs in a ski lodge with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire" and then you said it yourself!!! It must truly be a ski lodge sort of sweater 🙂

  35. Yep – definitely a ski lodge outfit and I am in love with it. I love cold weather – when I'm bundled up by a huge stone fireplace sipping hot cocoa and watching everyone ski outside the window. And I would wear an outfit like that while I did it.

  36. I know i say this almost every time but THIS really is my favorite outfit yet.

  37. Love your sweater and the peek of polka dot sock sticking out is, Adorable! I am a sucker for a cute printed sock. Contemplating the whole sock and sandal thing…not sure if I can pull it off though.

  38. I don't think I can in good conscience give you any sympathy  When I took my pictures yesterday morning it was 8 degrees! (2 deg wind chill). Brr!

Your sweater does look quite cozy though!

  39. just discovered your blog and could not help but laugh when i saw this post, because i'm wearing the exact same pair of socks from target. i don't like winter weather too, especially since ours is colder than yours, which means people can't really see your outfit. boo 🙁

  40. This is a beautiful outfit. I especially love your sweater and glasses combo!
