As you might have picked up, I’ve been on hush mode this week. I wasn’t planning an intentional break, but it just happened. Christmas happened, snow happened, work (sort of) happened. But getting dressed this week did not. I feel like the end of the year is a good time for taking a break. And technically I didn’t have a choice as my brain has decided to check out for a few days. I can barely put two words together let alone an outfit. (I’m on day three of the same sweater. Huzzah!)

I’ll have you know that I did have grandiose plans to write a perfectly poetic post about this past year. About how hard it was, but how good it was. But since my word bank for this year is used up and you really can’t put a post together using the only two words left ( “banana” and “friendly”) it is only appropriate that I use a few snapshots from this past year to summarize. Going back through my archive of outfits always makes me remember things a little bit differently. It makes a long year seem so short.

Before we wrap up another year, I need to say one more thing: THANK YOU. Thank you for showing up every day that you did. Thank you for listening when I needed to be heard. Thank you for letting me getting dressed in whatever get up I decided to and share it with you. Thank you for correcting me when I was wrong and for liking me anyways. It’s weird to say that I couldn’t do what I do without people I’ve never met, but it’s true. So thank you. I will always be grateful for you.

2013: Let’s do this, shall we?

  5. Thank YOU for your inspiration and creativity.  I love seeing your post pop up in my reader!  Your blog is the first fashion blog I started reading and inspired me to share my own outfits.  I can't thank YOU enough for opening that door.

Also, the only thing I've worn for the past week has involved either leggings and a disgusting t-shirt or pajama pants and a disgusting t-shirt.  I also haven't left the house for 4 days.  It really is good to take a break.

  9. This might be the first time I've ever commented, but I love your blog… I found it this summer and not only have I read every post since then, I've gone back to read at least a year in the past.

I adore your style and admire the way you make cute, trendy outfits look so effortless and accessible. Plus, I like the honest way you write each post.

My best friend recently moved from McKinney to Pennsylvania, and I'm sad I never got a chance to visit Bloom in person. But best of luck in everything, an I look forward to reading your blog in 2013.

  10. I love that you said you're currently wearing the same sweater you've been wearing for 3 days. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that!

While I'm a relatively new subscriber – only since September time – yours is my most favorite blog, and the one I get most excited to see new posts from! So thank you! You've helped me through some hard times this year!

  11. Thank you for teaching me to remix my wardrobe.
Thanks for making me start my colored skinny jeans collection.
Thanks for making me wear that "it girl" lipstick and now I'm not afraid to wear bold lippies.
Thanks for making me get tons of jackets/blazers.
Thanks for inspiring me to go "thrifting" again.
Thanks for making your post fun to read as much I adore seeing your pictures.
God bless you and Have a Happy New Year!

  12. I think "Friendly Banana" would make an awesome post or blog title (except for the obvious misinterpretations).

Thank you for an awesome year. I hope you have a wonderful 2013!

  13. Thanks for allowing us to ride along on this journey with you! I love checking in every day and seeing what outfits you come up with… these are some of my favorites 🙂 Cannot wait to see what else you come up with in 2013 – Happy New Year!!

  17. I love this roundup for the end of the year – no frills, just what you've done over the past year. such wonderful shots. :]

  18. Kendi, You're awesome. Hope you have a fabulous new year, I can't wait to see what kind of glamourous outfit you come up with!

  19. Oh, I love this conglomeration of photos! What is that gorgeous orange shade of lipstick you are wearing with the Anthropologie collar necklace?

  20. Gurrlll…I was so waiting for pictures of you in the snow! We don't get it often and I thought for sure you'd have something cool…even if it's in your bathrobe and slippers 😉 Happy New Year to you!

  21. <3 Thanks for all the posts and for being an inspiration, bright personality and being real!

  22. No.  Thank YOU!  I read your blog everyday, and when you take a break, I long for you to return.  I'm nobody but a fellow Texan (I live across 380, south of Denton) who adores you, your style, your travels, your cutie-pie husband, and your "snarky" posts. One day, I might visit you in your store, but for now, I'm the lurker who is tickled to "know" a movie star.  Yeah, the news counts as movie star. Happy 2013 Kendi!

  23. I'm now a big fan of your blog and your looks. I wish I was cool and stylish like you, sometimes I try to channel my inner Kendi and sometimes I just hang out all day long in my pajamas, and I'm okay with that. Thanks for being an inspiration for us! Cheers!

  24. Can't wait to see what silly things you have to say and great outfits you have to share 🙂

  25. Happy New Year, Kendi! It's been a pleasure… Can't wait to see what you throw at us in 2013. 🙂 Cheers!

  26. Thank YOU Kendi!  For sharing with us a little each day 🙂
You have made me try a little harder to make my outfits more interesting (and more colorful!!) and for giving me the courage to be a little braver with my look.

  27. Thanks kendi, there are so many fashion blogs out there but the reason I come back (apart from the outfits) is your writing.  Its not vacusous "Happy Friday" and eternally chirpy. Its better than that.  Keep it up!  From a semi addict from Ireland!

  28. Thank you Kendi! You helped me experiment more with my closet and look at clothes differently. Your writing and style inspired me to start a blog of my own and although I may be very popular, it's something I love doing. So thank YOU again for giving a girl a little push.

  29. Merry Late Christmas Kendi!

I am grateful to have found your blog as it inspired me to get off my couch, grab a camera, and share my outfits. I am always glad to read your latests thoughts and hope my writing will produce the same feeling in others. Looking forward to staying updated with your posts next year!

  30. Hi Kendi. Thank YOU for all the inspiration. It's a pleasure to visit Kendi Everyday (or almost everyday, haha). I love that you used details of your outfits for your year in review. My newly created Details board on Pinterest thanks you.

I wish you and B a very happy, very colorful, and even more fruitful 2013. 🙂

  31. Happy New Year! I love your blog; your pictures, words, outfit inspirations and daily laughs!! It's funny that "snapshots" while beautiful don't seem to capture all that YOU have done for US as a Blogger! So, for that we say THANK YOU for all you do for us through out the year!

  32. You're welcome. There's no shame in wearing the same sweater for 3 days. I've a cold, and I don't have one on me mind you 😀 PJs is all there is.

  33. Kendi, your sweet blog is one of the few voices that I feel is consistently genuine – and it's wonderful! Days ebb and flow for everyone and it's so satisfying (and relieving) to see a blogger ebb and flow right along with you. You're a wonderful writer with a sound and balanced approach to sharing your thoughts and threads to the masses.

Cheers to a wonderful new year and I hope y'all enjoyed your bit of snow (dry as a bone here in Austin)!

  34. Going through previous photos is so fun.  Love the selections you made for this post.
    Cheers to 2013!

  35. Thank you for being always so genuine, fresh and funny. I really enjoy following your blog!
I wish you a happy and inspirational 2013.

  36. I adore your blog. I also received a new sweater for Christmas and also wore it the next three days to different places (oh well) The end of the year is a good time for taking breaks and refocusing for the next year…Can't wait to see what you have planned (and unplanned) for your 2013 closet.
    Sincerely, S

  37. You are such an inspiration. In 2012 I discovered the world of fashion blogs, and besides the fact have spent hours upon hours in front of my computer screen, I am in love. I have decided to start my own fashion blog in 2013. I have zero posts yet, but at least it is set up. One step at a time.
