When it’s a work day in the store (i.e. re-stocking inventory or putting up the christmas decorations like today which I’m terrible at so if you like festive things please come help me) I know I can’t wear a dress or a skirt because it’s pointless. By 11 am I’ll want to change into jeans and I can’t so I’m grumpy for the rest of the day and I fire everyone I see, even the customers. (Yes, the wrong outfit makes me grumpy. You’ve known me for three years, this should not surprise you.) What I’d like to wear on these days is a tee and jeans, hair in bun, maybe some Uggs (judge it sister — they are comfortable, ok?). But since I have to look half-way presentable and Uggs don’t leave my house, I’ve decide that colored jeans and a button down are my new casual. Still comfortable, still presentable. It’s like the grown up t-shirt and jeans for when you have to work and you don’t want to really get dressed but it’s the middle of the week you don’t have a choice. I have a feeling that tag line is not going to catch on.

  1. I absolutely agree with you! Button downs, skinnies, and flats are my casual uniform these days. It makes me feel "put together" without all the effort!

Uggs are comfy, I share the same secret 🙂

  3. Another humorous and relatable post, Kendi. PS. Love the combo of the jade jeans and the blue!

  4. uggs are so comfortable…..remember when they used to be "cool" outside of the house?  makes me nostalgic.

  5. I am so with you…the wrong outfit will make me a total grump! Your hair looks gorgeous.

I was just talking about Uggs yesterday actually. Dislike and mine (which were a gift) don't leave my house either =)

  7. Totally agree – button up and jeans is the way to go!  GAP and Jcrew always have awesome button-ups.  Love the polka dots – I have it too 🙂

  8. Great outfit. I have heard so much about uggs and it doesn't matter how much they criticize them, almost every blogger will confess to owning a pair and wearing them at home. Are they really that comfortable?

  9. Love this outfit, Kendi, and I love the new hair! Happy Thanksgiving!

  13. um…we should probably be friends. today, I'm in a button down and leggings because I have to work and I didn't want to get dressed but it's the middle of the week and I didn't have a choice. See, it's catching on already.

  14. I'm in love with this outfit. Button ups are hard for me because of my chest 🙁 but I want to wear all of this!

  15. That's become my new casual, go-to outfit too! Buttons on a top automatically equal more presentable. I haven't ventured into the colored jeans territory yet, but I feel it coming on soon; I mean I got black jeggings, so…You look great, Kendi!

  16. I totally relate to you! I work in retail and there's nothin worse than coming to work, looking all cute, just to hang up clothes and change mannequins, and put up the seasonal decor.

I love you outfit! Those jeans are so cute!! Would look great with some cognac boots but I do love it with your colorful flats!

  17. I've been eyeing that tote online since I first saw you carrying it. And now there's 25% off storewide! Clearly a sign I should get it. But two quick questions: does it look like it will fall apart very quickly if I'm prone to carrying everything AND the kitchen sink? And is it one of those leather bags that weigh a tonne even before you put anything in it? My decision hinges on your reply. No pressure there! Lol. Thanks in advance!

  18. What a colorful alternative to just "jeans and a tee". You make casual ever so chic!
PS: If you get the chance, I'd love it if you could stop by my blog. This week I DIY painted a pumpkin pink, showed my new flower crown, had a giveaway, and did a ton of thrifting. Hope you like it!xoxowww.prettylittlefawn.blogspot.com

  19. This blue and green combination is really cute! And love polka dots always.

  20. 1. I've always been embarrassed of my secret love for Uggs. But they are like walking on tiny little baby clouds all day. For that, I will let the world judge me. Sacrifices.
    2. I love this outfit. And your hair.
    3. That bracelet is fierce. Wish there was a close-up shot!

  21. I can't believe you confess to having UGGs! But if they don't leave the house I'll forgive you. I have some pretty sexy slippers I wear at home as well. Anyway, I love this outfit. I have some green jeans and now I want to wear them with polka dots and blue accents as soon as possible.

  22. I absolutely love looking at your photos and seeing bits of my hometown in the background!

  23. You look so amazing! I LOVE the color scheme so much. The polka dots are adorable on you too, what an amazing shirt!  You're always so well put together, Kendi! I hope you had an amazing holiday and fruitful black friday =P

  24. adore that look. It all works so well together, but I just can't stand those pointy shoes! Otherwise great look!

  25.  My dear,
I found your blog by chance, while peeking others and I decided to check it out! I’m glad I did it, because  I am really delighted with yours. It's beautiful, well structured, interesting… and it has completely got me hooked. I think we're going to get along just fine! I'd like to invite you to meet my blog as well.
I wish you lots of success
    kisses

  26. I'm sure you decorate just fine! I like this color combo – I'll have to look at light blue and dark teal in my closet as well!

  27. I love your blog, but it should be called Kendi Randomly rather than Kendi Everyday.

  28. Haha — yes ma'am. My best friend and I got them for each other for christmas back in '07 and I just can't get rid of them. They are just so comfortable to wear around when it's cold. Plus I mean, it was a gift so I can't get rid of them right? 😉

  29. I'm a little late on this but it's still 25% off so that's good! Okay so I love it. It is a little bit heavier on it's own because it's leather but it has no embellishments so it's actually pretty lightweight. Now when I carry a purse I mean it so my purses are usually very heavy because everything goes in it. The only thing about this tote is that the straps are fairly thin for the size of the tote. This worried me at first but now they are just fine. I've had it for a month and have carried it almost every day and it is wearing really well. I don't pack it full though, just because I am paranoid about the straps and I want to keep it for a long time. (Meaning I don't use it for my laptop, I am afraid it is too heavy for the purse). Besides the occasional scratch (from me) it looks brand new. I hope this helps!

  30. Thanks so much for the reply! The bag is being shipped right now. Come to mama! Btw this is totally random, but I used to own and run a small boutique called Swirl and we used to do daily outfit shots too. I feel like we're kindred spirits or something. If you're interested, the blog is still languishing on blogger at swirlgirls.blogspot.com.

  31. I want to know what color you have on your hair. Professional or store bought? LOVE it!!
