{Dress: Zara | Shoes: Similar | Clutch: Similar }

I’ve always been a fan of the shirtdress. It just feels classy, you know? But the act of finding one that isn’t too short for me is next to impossible. Until it dawned on me the other day in the fitting room: “Kendi, size up. Extra room and extra length; it’s win-win.” How has it taken me this long to figure that out? Sometimes it scares me that I’m allowed to have a style blog.

  1. I've been blog stalking you for a while and I just wanted to say that I love you and your wit brightens my day, especially when I sneak a read at work!

  2. Adore the shirt dress and love how you added pops of a bright blue with it.

  3. You look so easy breezy! Maybe you should be a Cover Girl. Can't say I've ever had a problem with dresses and skirts being too short – except at H&M because that place is made for toddlers.

  4. How tall are you, Kendi?  I've been buying bigger sizes for more length for ages (I'm looking at you, Forever21).  I'm just curious for my own sake – if stuff fits you, maybe it'll fit me, too!

  5. It's funny how sometimes you don't realize things until you ACTUALLY realize them. lol Yes I used realize twice in the same sentence….so sue me.
    I love the color of the shirtdress, it's definitely appropriate for Fall. I am totally loving anything maroon or wine colored these days. HOORAY for FAll!

  6. Your dress looks light and comfy and that's all I need. You were right to size up its never comfortable to be wearing a too short dress.

  7. This shirt dress looks great on you! but i understand what you mean, I was thinking maybe zara makes their shirt dresses very short, it's the same for me. I can't wear them like a dress, and even one size up doesn't make a change… And for me the little cuts on the sides are a bigger problem, they are so "high" that I haven't found yet a shirt dress at zara…

  8. My sock bun yesterday was a disaster. Yours always look gorgeous! I'm still waiting for my tutorial….

  9. I'm 5'9". My problem is that I have a long torso AND long legs. That's a double whammy when it comes to finding the right length of things. Oh and I always buy the largest size at places like Forever21 and H&M. Size is just a number. 🙂

  10. You're lucky you're thin enough and tall enough to make this work. I think on me this would make me look a bit like an especially squat chunky oompa loompa. Give me a shirt dress that has a great belt and you take the oompa loompa right out of the equation.

  11. It doesn't even look like you sized up, it looks like a loose, flow-y shirt dress. I love shirtdresses for the same reason and because they are so comfy.

  12.  The shirt dress is the best solution to those days where I want to roll out of bed and not think! I always get compliments on that style!

  21. That dress is gorgeous! Love the color on you – one of my favorite fall shades. I don't think I've tried to size up in them; I'll definitely have to try that because I often have that same problem!
