{Dress: Here | Blazer: Similar | Tote: c/o Joie | Sunnies: c/o Coach | Bracelet: Kristin Hassan

If the blazer over a dress trick ever goes out of style, I’m done. It’s the easiest outfit to look pulled together. No one would ever know that in my morning frenzy I had pulled every piece of clothing off ever hanger and thrown them in a pile the size of a small bean bag chair. A hot mess of a pile that will take me at least two weeks to clean up.

Now you see why it’s a winning combo, yes?

  1. I don't know how I've made it 27 years without a blazer. I'm going out and getting one right now! Or at least soon. Or at least when I get my next paycheck 😉 Clearly I love the look.

  2. Kendi, you always look so adorable in all outfits! I love the combo with your snake skin heels! Totally cute!

  3.  I'm loving structured jackets too. I just wish it gets a little cooler here in Fresno to pull it off. You look great as always 🙂

  4. I love blazers over dresses, they save me so often!

  5. Love your shoes. When did you get that blazer at Target? Recently? I was at the Target in McKinney on Tuesday and they have some blazers out that have a chevron pattern on the inside, so when you roll the sleeves….adorable!

  6. shoooooooeeees.  i know that's not a real word.  just wanted to really get it across that i love your shoooooeeees.

  7. You look soooo elegant! I've never had the right dress to wear under a blazer, but that natural waist look is perfect. Love the shoes, too!!

  8. Winning combo for sure! All day, every day! 🙂 And your hot mess pile secret is safe with me – as long as you don't tell anyone I sat in my closet for 10 minutes staring at my clothes pondering what on earth the weather would let me wear today – then ended up with boots and a sweater, even though it's supposed to be 85. o_O

  9. Those shoes are amazing.  I wish I could wear heels.  I hurt my foot a while back and it just isn't happening for me anymore.  However, I have some amazing flats.  Not quite the same…

  10. What is this lip color? I've been looking for an everyday "fall" color and I am in love! If it happens to be your natural color with gloss, you lucky duck. 🙂

  11. I love a blazer + dress combo.  It will never go out of style!  I love a blazer and anything, though.  Those shoes are fabulous too!  Oh and the whole pull out everything to try when getting ready? Like a weekly thing for me if I haven't already planned in advance what I am going to put on.

  12. Has anyone ever told you could be the brunette Tori Spelling?  I didn't notice until this post (3rd picture)!

  13. Ha — no, no not my natural lip color. It's Revlon Just Bitten Balm in Crush. http://www.target.com/p/revlon-just-bitten-kissable-balm-stain/-/A-14081320?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C14081320&CPNG=health%20beauty&ci_sku=14081320&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw=

  14. Thanks, hun! I agree it does take the right dress for the look to work. I always have to have a fitted waist dress or at least make a waist with a belt.

  15. I totally know what you mean. I have a huge pile going on in my closet with no sign of it getting cleaned up anytime soon.

  16. Really cute and I agree – its a combo that must NEVER go out of style. I may have to pull off something similar tomorrow 🙂

  17. Your outfit is wonderful but I was also hoping to see if you could give any info about your necklace? Thanks!

  18. Sure — the initial B necklace is from my shop, Bloom, and the circle necklace was a gift from my husband from a local boutique called Nan Lee Jewelry. 🙂

  19. Where are your shoes from?  I LOVE them!!!  They need to get into my closet asap.

  20. Not at all related to this post- but I'm going to NYC in a few weeks and I know you were just there so I'd love any store recommendations you may have 🙂 Our style is similar & I love everything @ Bloom (just bought the camel moto!) so let me know if you get a chance!

  21. Hahaha no, no. I just fear the day that this isn't a classic ensemble 😉 From what I can tell — we are in the clear.

  22. Oh gosh, let's see what I know…I didn't shop too much this time but I did hit up Zara and Joe Fresh (you must) which is on 5th avenue, close by the NY Public Library. I'm sure there are other locations in the city as well, so just google it once you get there. It's fabulous, my friend. Other than that I'd say go to Soho and walk around down there — great boutiques and shops and a great area. The new Piperlime storefront opened up, there is a fantastic Madewell down there as well as the new TopShop! You should also hit up this little place in the west village I believe called Poppy NYC. It's an adorable boutique. Bleeker street has a lot of little shops as well. (While you are there, stop in at Magnolia Bakery!) Oh and there is a store called C. Wonder which is a new shop that I missed on my last trip but wanted to check out! I believe it's on 5th, but I'm not for sure. If you just walk 5th down to Central Park you will find all sorts of shopping. If you are looking for home things Fishes Eddy and ABC Market ( I believe that's what it's called.) are both great places. And one more — Chelsea Market. Go explore and grab lunch there. (There's a fantastic Anthropologie nearby, too! I really should be an international shopping guide, right? 😉

  23. I bought them this spring from TJ Maxx so I don't think they are around anymore. But if you google Nine West Snakeskin sandal, I did see a few ebay links to the same pair!

  24. I agree, blazers and dresses make the best of friends. Also, your little story made me giggle because I go through the same thing sometimes. Why is it that it takes ten times longer to put things back then it does to make a mess of them? One of the many things I'll never understand!!

  25. You really should! Thanks for all the tips 🙂 Now I'm really looking forward to the trip! Last time I was in NYC, I had been in the city all of 30 minutes before I made my first purchase at Anthropolgie. It's a problem. I've had my eye on Joe Fresh for awhile now, so it's about time I get into a store!

  26. You are the epitome of chic sophistication!

  27. glad to see my floor is not the only one with a heap of clothes on it….

  28. Wow your legs are rockin' in this picture (from a totally straight female POV). I totally agree about the dress + blazer thing, although I'm actually more a cardigan + dress fan just cuz I look "cute" rather than "cool". You look great though and the dress color is amazing!

  29. Why I didn't wear a blazer with my dress yesterday, I have no idea. Must not neglect my blazers!

  30. Hahaha – that is totally me every morning too.  My poor desk chair is always drowning in clothes!

Love this outfit – especially the shoes!  So cute!

  31. Never tried a blazer over a dress! Hmmm… Got my mind thinking 🙂 My go to outfit on a crazy day is a plain tee with a scarf and pumps. Pretty much wear that all the time!!!

  32. glad I'm not the only one who makes the mess then just stares at it for two weeks until I finally trip over it in my early morning haze…

    love those shoes!

  33. i'm with you…if the blazer + dress combo every goes out of style, i will be late for work every day. and i will stop eating peanut butter + jelly sandwiches.

i love the rolled cuffs on the blazer.

  34. haha I do the exact same thing! I love the snakeskin heels 🙂 So cute!

  35. I seriously just bought this dress last week for an event, glad to have another option for wearing it.

  36. I love the shoes…and your lipstick!  What color/brand are you wearing?  I've been a gloss girl for the past decade…but I really like bold, matte color these days…

  37. I absolutely love your ninewest shoes!! Can you share where you purchased them from? I could not find them on the ninewest website.
