Well, it’s going to be one hundred and nine degrees today here in north Texas. I wrote it out to be dramatic. It’s offensively hot this week. As Texans, we all saw it coming, every summer we are prepared to feel the first layer of the sun. So how does one dress for that kind of assault? Shorts, duh. That was a gimme answer since I was wearing them in my photos, you guys. It’s shorts or nothing at all and as I’ve learned it’s hard to sell clothing when you are naked.

  1. Urgh. That's too bloody hot. I'm not sure who has it the hardest…Texans and the summer broil, or Albertans and the deep winter freeze. I'd say it's a toss up. Anyway, love the shorts and I love that you accessorized with a much brighter color in the same family.

  2. I love the new layout!!!!! So cute! (:
Those shorts area adorable! Ugh, I know what you mean about the heat… x___x

  3. Lovely summer look. I've got these shorts too and they are a great fit and compliment-getter! I've worn white with them a lot, but patterns are particularly fun to experiment with as well.

  4. It can be pretty brutal here in DC, too. If it weren't for everyone's stupid "no clothes no service" policy, I'd be set. We appear to be in a torrential downpour at the moment, though, so feel free to come on over. I have booze and a dog.

  5. I love the new blog look, and the shorts!Frankly I just live in shorts and stop caring about fashion when the temperature climbs 90.

  6. Whoa! New layout! It's fantastic – fresh and clean. Ditto for the shorts. I'm now comes the part where I spend too long exploring your new "sort by colour" feature.

  7. As a fellow north Texas resident, I am totally feeling your pain! It's been a hot week. Love your blog, love your outfit, and shorts are about the only thing to keep you sane in Texas Summers! ~ Chrystal 🙂

  8. i can relate to dressing for intense summer heat. i live in st. louis where it's been 102-110 for most days the past 3 months. the flip side is our office hovers around 48 degrees. so do you dress for summer or winter? love this outfit ~ even in 109 degree temps, you manage to look totally cool. 😉 ~ susan

  9. Oooohh you changed your site! Very nice. I just wanted to say that I don't wear shorts. Ever. But, i love this outfit, and if those shorts were pants i'd totally wear 'em. Good job!

  10. Those shorts are something I'd have looked over on the store rack, but that just goes to show that I need to try interesting things on before I judge!

And this new layout– loving how stream-lined and fresh it is! Yay!

  11. Just when I thought your blog couldnt get any cuter! Love this header! Oh and I need that bag in my closet! Swoon!

  12. Growing up in Austin I pretty much went to Barton Springs everyday it's just too hot to do anything else. Of course then I was young and didn't have to pay for anything and it was ok to be half dressed all day. Oh to be 16 again.

  13. I was having a bad morning and decided to do some intense retail therapy. I read todays post as I was walking into Old Navy and looked up to find that they have the same color/polka dot shorts as seen here! I got so excited! It was a retail sign! So, I tried on the shorts with a flowy white shirt…turned around to look at myself in the mirror… and literally laughed (then cried) out loud in the dressing room. You pull this off so well, and I sadly did not. I suppose shorts and I don't really get along. I'll stick with skirts. Nevertheless, I did score some mega deals at Ulta, so not a bad day after all. 🙂

    Keep rocking those shorts, girl!

  15. I’m playing catch-up on your last few posts. I love the shorts and glasses on this one. How are you managing to not look sweaty? 😉

As for the ‘Pants and Feelings,’ I don’t think any outfit you wear or anything you say would turn your readers away. We love your candor and your cute clothes…so, just be you! That’s why we all started following KE in the first place, right?

  16. Kendi, this might be a silly question – but what do you look for when buying new shorts? PS Love your new blog design!

  17. I love the new layout! I didn't realize it at first but I knew something was different! I'm the queen of missing the obvious though, so nothing new. Anywho, you look great and you have some killer legs girl. Keep wearing those short shorts and give them customers of yours a show! 😉 xx, Allie

  21. Well, I am just proud (as a fellow Texan) that you look amazing in one hundred and nine degree weather! My hair can't stay down for longer than 10 minutes this time of year-even debating on a brazilian blowout to shorten blow-dry time. 🙂

  22. Such a cute outfit! I love your glasses!

  23. Girl, your legs look fabulous!!  Miles long.  And working those glasses!

I would never guess that it would be anywhere near that hot by looking at these photos.  If it were me, I would a hot mess.  A literal one, not an attractive one.  But I guess that's what you get when you're from Texas and I'm from rainy Washington…

  24. Wow! Love this look and LOVE the new blog layout! Super stylish, although also a bit sad to see the old look go as you've had it the whole time I've been reading 🙂

    Life etc

  25. Wait, is that you say that you've TRIED to sell clothes while you were naked?  lol

  26. The new design of the blog looks great!  I find your layout is so helpful because I often go to your list of outfits by color when I add a new piece to my closet.  Please don't change that!!
Enjoy reading and looking at everything here.  I am one big fan!

  27. This is such a classic look.  I love the pattern on your shorts.  I think I'd definitely try it out with my hipster glasses.

  28. JEALOUS of the heat!!! The highest it ever gets in Ireland in the dead of summer is about 72. You never even get to put your fall/winter clothes away here 🙂

  29. I'm always impressed with Target makes something that looks way better than Target. (Does that makes sense?) Anyway, you look fab! Hope you're not wilting in the heat.

  30. I love your lipstick that you're wearing in these pictures. It's very natural, which I'm a big fan of.

And if you're not wearing lipstick, I'll eat my words. 🙂
