It’s freaky to go to a website and see your face. Ok I know technically I could go to this website and see my face, but you know what I mean. When I was asked to be a part of the Summer catalog with Brahmin, I was a bit nervous as I am no model and this was New York City. (Which here in Texas is the big time.) But I headed up to Brooklyn and put my best model face on.

Yes, those are all of my model faces. Pick your favorite.

It was a little bit of a surreal expereince. First off — there was a trailer that we got our hair and makeup done in. As in “I’ll be in my trailer before my next scene, if you need me.” Talk about my mind being blown. Then at one point I was getting my nails, makeup and hair did. ALL AT ONCE. And then the nice stylist man put a Christian Louboutin (did I even spell that right?) in my lap and told me to put it on. After having a Sex and The City montage in my head, I put those shoes on. Kind of. They didn’t fit actually, even though it was my size. The irony at that moment was overwhelming. Of course, I lied and said the shoe fit. So with my little sausage toes smushed in there I got half way down the street when I tripped and about 4 people rushed me to get those shoes off me faster than you can imagine. Kendi got the cheaper shoes for the rest of the day. If there is one lesson here it is this: small town girl can not be trusted with nice things.

For two days, I got to kind of live out a fantasy. I was kind of like that lady in the car commercial who saved some money on her cell phone bill so she now thought she was rich. I wear an expensive shoe for 5 minutes and I think I’m a movie star. It’s the little things, you guys. But oddly enough at the end of the day, I was ready to be back home. As it turns out, getting my hair and makeup done by professionals daily is not in my stars. But I’m okay with that. Who’s to say my $20 hair straightner isn’t professional?
The other lesson here is that I was right. I am not a model, but I do know how to pose with ice cream. Take that, Gisele.
Oh yes and the catalog is here, if you feel like perusing.
(Also, thank you Rebekka for taking iPhone photos like a champ.)

  2. Funny thing is that I just found your blog yesterday & I already follow a blog from another one of their catalog models – Sarah from jaynsarah.com. Does this mean I'm ahead of fashion & I know all the good looks?
