It’s hard to be honest sometimes. Not like in the sense of telling the truth, just in the sense of not telling the whole truth. See the difference? So here is the truth: My brain and most of it’s creativity is gone. I don’t know if its the holidays, the traveling, my week-long cold that I did in fact conquer or the fact that I’ve eaten chocolate truffles and french fries every single night for about a week but something in my brain is clogged. Gosh, so many things to blame it on, how will I ever choose?

This is weird because I’m not sad or anything, I mean for goodness sake Christmas is 5 days away how could I possibly be sad? Just distracted, I suppose. It’s just that my brain doesn’t want to move. Is this happening to anyone else?

In other news, I don’t want to take this outfit off, ever. It’s like wearing pajamas, but better. I also have a small blanket around my neck, so it’s easy to nap at anytime. I can just use my scarf as a pillo…  Oh okay, I see what’s going on. It’s becoming clear as to why my brain won’t wake up. I’m dressing in nap-time chic. Expect heels tomorrow.

  1. I have that same cardi. My husband doesn't like it because he says it's University of Texas colors (OK for you, not OK for an Arkansan). I never thought of it with navy. I love it!

  2. The color of that scarf is wonderful–and it looks so comfortable. The perfect amount of earthy for a cold, snowy day like the one we're having up in Minnesota.

Don't worry–your creativity will come careening back. It looks like it never left!

  3. ♥ your naptime chic!
    Gorgeous colours, beautiful silhouette.

I've been feeling pretty uninspired since my flight home got cancelled the other day but I think I could do with some naptime chic myself for the upcoming 20 hour replacement bus ride 🙂

  4. sounds like you're in a bit of a french fries & truffles coma! it happens. i was in a bit of a pizza coma last night and basically fell asleep after demolishing half a large pizza by myself. 😛

i hope the holidays allow you to relax and have some "Kendi time".

i absolutely love the colors in this outfit. the fact that it's super comfortable is probably the biggest bonus! xo

  5. Love, love, love this outfit! So simple and so put together at the same time. You look super comfy!! 🙂

  6. I felt that way the week before Christmas break, I had so many things to do, but I blocked them out of my mind, because I wasn't motivated to d them.

  7. this is making me want to nap, also. My brain stopped working on Friday.;)LOVE this look – so colorful and comfy!

  8. I have definitely been having that problem as of late as well. I have a feeling it will clear up at Christmas when all the excitement hardcore takes over.

I normally don't like the maxi dress look, but I really like this outfit! comfy and cute : )

  9. First of all you outfit it's completely adorable! … Scarf is great too! … About your state of mind? … It happens to all us too, and it's totally logical, year's almost done so our body/brain tends to relax! Don't worry Christmas will cheer you up 😉

  10. Hahaha…LOVE this post..I know what you mean…Ive been feeling the same way, then I figured it out: I was too busy to think, yep…Ive had sooo much going on in my mind at the same time, that I couldn't break things down into SINGLES …totally attacked my "head list" this past weekend, and now I'm back on track with Xmas and feeling pretty peppy again!!

Can't wait to see your heels…maybe they will be red?

    Hugs sweets!

  11. I am so onboard with the brain being mush and inspiration being absent. I also have no vocabulary, at all, not even little words. I'm hoping this is all due to the busyness of the season.

When my brain is mush I like to go to comfy outfits and so this is right up my ally. Enjoy being cozy!

  12. Kendi, who cares if it's naptime chic? It's chic! I mean, really really really chic. Because would I ever have thought to wear a maxi in the winter? And would I have made it look adorable and season appropriate with booties, a sweet circle scarf, and a bright pop of color from a sweet cardigan (seriously, you look amaing)? No, no I would not. So rock that naptime look. And use it as an excuse to actually take a nap.

Good luck with getting out of your hazy state! I think it's just pre-holiday fatigue. I just want to sleep and eat.

  13. hehe my brain's mushy, too. I don't feel like dressing up, eat only sugar and carbs, and lay in bed. I need a healthy January!

  14. This is a beautiful color combination on you – the warm orange paired with the navy and soft grey scarf isn't one that I often see – it's definitely an inspiration for this reader! 🙂

  15. I'm feeling drained too and it's affecting my energy overall. I've been reading that sometimes it's best to take a break when you're uninspired or drained but you can't do that!! I look forward to your daily posts too much =). Cute outfit!

  16. Lucky you that you live somewhere halfway warm — we're sacrificing fashion to stay warm here in Wisconsin. Great outfit; happy holidays!

  17. Love the color of that cardigan. I just got a turtleneck that is burnt orange and gold (it looks better then it sounds, really).

  18. This looks sooo comfortable! I love the blue and orange together too!

My brain has been a little clogged lately too, I personally blame it on the eggnog and christmas cookies that I've been devouring nonstop. I think I'll eat salad the whole month of January.

  19. I wore basically this same outfit this weekend that I will be blogging later, and you're right, it is awesomely comfortable! I like the colors of your outfit, they pair well!

  20. Kendi, you def look comfy! I'm stealing this look, because it's totally doable here in our tropical winter weather. 🙂 I'll give you credit though.. no worries! Happy Monday girl!

    xx Love & Aloha

  21. Such a great dress! You look very long 🙂 I really like the color combination, it really works for you. Those infinity scarves are the best!

  22. Hmm, you're making me want to pull out my maxi-dress that I swore I'd only ever wear again when pregnant… luckily it's in the basement with the rest of my maternity clothes. Um, it's not nearly as flattering as yours!

  23. Thursday I woke up to almost a foot of snow and the only thing that was going to make the day bearable was my most cozy sweater. Sometimes, especially now when it's freezing, you have to be comfortable. But hey, at least you look chic doing so!

    26 and Counting

  24. That totally happens to me most years. I'm trying to break out of it so I let Bob turn on the Christmas music before Halloween this year. 🙂
Maybe once you get some presents you'll feel better. Tell Brian you want one early!

  25. I hate when my brain shuts down on me. There are times when it's on a roll and it keeps going…and going, but then there are times when it just gives up. Everyone has their dry spells.

  26. Maybe you're just in need of a break.. mentally and physically?

Just thought that because sometimes what you're describing is exactly what happens to me when I haven't realised how busy I've been and how I need a bit of a rest..

Love the colours you've been wearing! Especially that gorgeous cardi… J Crew doesn't ship to Australia unfortunately, so I had to find something similar on eBAy… Gorgeous blog Kendi, one of my faves!

    Ronnie 🙂

  27. All these colors are so lovely. Love a good maxi dress.
Well, at least your brain is shutting down during the holiday season, and not at rush-hour at work or something. Maybe you just need to have some nice "vegging" time. Happy Holidays, Kendi!

  28. this outfit proves you can be as comfortable as in sweats but still look amazing.
i just adore the colour of your scarf.

  29. Oh girl, I'm so in that slump right now. I'm not either of those things either but for whatever reason, I can't get back in action. I'm a bit stuck and a bit distracted for no real reason. I want to blame it on the hustle and bustle of the holidays but I haven't done much so I can't quite figure it out.

However, you look completely ravishing in this look. I agree with the whole long dress thing. It feels like pajamas. I'm stuck on anything long these days pairing with a long, chunky sweater too. Ahh, bliss.

BTW, saw you're part of (shh, you know what) and that's so exciting to be in it together! Can't wait to see yours<3

    xx,

  30. In case you ever think about getting rid of that orange vest (when it's still in a wearable state ;-), please send it my way. Thank you! best, Macs (macsblog.tumblr.com)

  31. ohhh love this.

Especially because it looks like something I can wear with by prego belly.

You are so darn pretty Kendi!

  32. Thanks Kendi, I bought a pair of brown boots as a Christmas present to myself (because I loved yours) and couldn't find a way to wear them that looked like me. (I'm too big to pull off skinny jeans or leggings) This outfit is definitely me!!! Thanks for showing me how to be comfortable and fashionable at the same time.

  33. This is such an adorable look! I found you via Collette's blog "Statements in Fashion," and I'm so glad to have stopped by today. Love the scarf and am your latest follower 🙂

  34. hi kendi! new to your blogworld and i lo-o-o-ove it! can't wait for more of your closet posts…mine is the size of a smaller shoebox and i could use your help!
    :), marissa

  35. I have the same boots and they seriously go with EVERYTHING!! You look amazing..found your blog through Statements in Fashion 🙂

  36. I completely understand what you're going through! haha. My brain is a bunch of christmas mush too right now, it's crazy! I love your outfit here, looks so comfty! Those boots are amazing!

    Merry Christmas! 🙂

  37. Such an interesting mix of proportions. I've filed it away in "to wear." Thanks for sharing, Kendi! You have such an eye.

  38. Since I just recently found your blog, I'm catching up on some old posts…and I have to say, that may just be THE cutest outfit I've ever seen. Haha, but seriously!

The scarf with the belt, the maxi and those boots..I love!
