11.8.10d{Shop: Skirt, Top, Socks, Necklace, Boots}Let’s be honest, I’ve got a little bit of a girl scout look going on here. Troop Beverly Hills to be exact. Only because Jenny Lewis would be in my troop and we could swap clothes. After the remix of course.
My dear sweet peach of a husband took my photos early this morning. And then I made him pancakes on the fire pit I made out of nature and twigs. I of course started the fire with matches, and not two rocks and friction. I’m not really a girl scout. I’m just dressed like one. Now I’m off to earn my “Laundry Queen” badge.
I, Kendi Everyday, promise to remix my heart out in the next 30 or so days. Scout’s honor.

(Update: 1) Apparently I’m doing the boy scout’s hand signal instead of the girl scout’s. This just goes to show you that the closest I ever got to being an actual girl scout was a package of Thin Mint cookies. 2) How could I not have included this? Do the Freddy!)

  1. Great outfit scout Kendi!I like the shocks, nice coloring detail! It makes the outfit!Well done and thanks for giving us the opportunity to remix and get to know each other.

  2. You are so darling! And I still can't get over the great photos! (I gotta get my hands on that necklace!)
Who knew you could make pancakes on a fire pit… I have obviously earned zero badges.

  3. do you remember the terrible girl scout uniforms??? Yuck. And do we want to talk Brownies for a moment? Oh, but what fun.

    Lovely first remix, Kendi!

  4. i love the button-down shirt and skirt combo! this is a great necklace too definitely glams up this outfit from your average girl scout ensemble.

good luck on your laundry queen badge! 🙂

  5. Stinky cute….I've been known to rock that on the weekends as well.

Oh yeah the pancakes on a fire pit? It's tricky and kind of gross. I was obviously never a girl scout. Or a great camper for that matter.

  6. SO random! I was just looking up girl scouts on wikipedia for script research. What a coincidence. Also, this outfit is awesome. I can't wait to see what else you come up with for your remix!

  7. I love this outfit, there is something about the gingham that is making me want to go camping, or maybe it was fire pit pancakes…

  8. Love it! I've always been a fan of the outdoorsy look. I really like the skirt. It's shape is fantastic and I love the shoes with the socks. Super cute.

    Good luck! 🙂

  9. I was so excited to see you picked this combo- I have almost the exact same one picked out for later in the remix!

  10. Love this! I like how you paired the teal socks with the bright blue-checkered top! And I love that necklace 🙂

    Yay for Day 1!

Also, read your interview on MML with Jess – you're such an inspiration – I'm getting ready to be a "Midnight Hustler" myself and your willingness to take a risk and pursue your passions is so awesome!

  11. Great start to your 30 for 30 challenge, Kendi! Your blog is so refreshing and well-written, and I really appreciate how warm and funny and unpretentious you are. Keep up the great work!

  12. Super cute outfit! I love Troop Beverly Hills! I love this skirt. Too bad I can't shop for 30 days. I need a husband so I can drop hints and have him do my shopping for me. 🙂

I saw Sufjan Stevens last night. Amazing. I cried.

  13. I'm new to reading your blog. Really cute outfit. I love the 30 for 30 concept and I can't wait to see what you do with your remixing in the coming days. I actually WAS a Girl Scout. All the way through the middle of high school (Cadets). You're actually doing the Boy Scout sign (Girl Scouts is the first three fingers) and I find that very adorable, haha.

  14. Oh gosh, Troop Beverly Hills is one of my all time FAVORITE movies! This look is also one of my favorites, especially the necklace.

  15. Okay, someone else caught the boy scout sign vs girl scout sign — cute! Oh well, your outfit makes up for it. Adorable.

  16. Let the fun begin! I love that top! I am really mad I left one just like that at a goodwill a year back because of a small rip. Oh if only I knew then what I know now…

I' also doing a 30 for 30 but just not with clothes since I dont have the time right now. But yea, I'm right there with you ladies!

  17. Haha, love the last photo! Too cute. Really loving your shoes! And the necklace is such a great statement piece!

  18. I just got booties very similar to these ones – I'm inspired to wear them in an outfit like this! You look great, Kendi! I'm so excited to watch the 30 for 30 play out 🙂

  19. For some reason, when I saw your items lined up, I envisioned this exact combination in my head!! I'm so glad you picked it!

  20. Kendiiii,
First of all, I wanted to say THANK YOU for this wonderful opportunity to be part of such an amazing challenge… it's only day 1 and I feel so overpowered (haha). Not touching other clothes in my wardrobe, walking straight past the stores on my way home. And I've already met so many great bloggers through this challenge… so THANK YOU!

And secondly, this outfit is so adorable!

And thirdly, you never fail to make me smile with your sarcasm & wit.

    Your biggest fan, lol.

  21. Ahhh, so adorable!! I especially love the third picture … you look beautiful and your socks look so precious. 🙂

Great start to the remix – I'm excited to see what you do for the next 29 days!

  22. i love it. you look really adorable. i dont think i could pull this off. plus the jump shots? I wish i could pull this off on my own haha! cute as always kendi!

  23. Shelley Long would totally approve! This outfit would have made it into those closet backpacks the Troop designed…

    Love this look on you!

  24. What a great way to start out the 30 for 30! You look absolutely adorable. 🙂

(My first outfit wasn't nearly this cute, haha. I was totally playing it safe today.)

  25. ahaha… i was about to say… what are you doing with your hand in that last one, then i read the update and busted out laughing. Amazing. I love this outfit. That necklace with that shirt is so so good!

I was a girl scout for like 6 years. I have to say… I loved those uniforms! I still have my sash somewhere!

  26. I'm so bummed I can't join in the 30 for 30 this time around!! Definitely count me in for a winter remix if you do one.

As usual, you are adorable. 🙂

  27. What a fantasitc outfit! I'm not sure which piece I love more (big fan of the buffalo check shirt!!!)but it all works together to be a playful, feminine ensemble.

I'm pretty sure no troop would turn you away…

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

  28. Good job at passing off your first badge of dressing cute! (even though you should have gotten this a LONG time ago!) That video is hilarious.

  29. Love the pearl necklace.

If it makes you feel any better, us Girl Scouts in Canada actually do do the fingers-together sign. The one you're doing is for Brownies, who are ages 7-10, I think? I just remember I couldn't do the three-fingered one for Guides, the next level up. My pinky just wouldn't bend…

  30. I remember when the Disney Channel would show Troop Beverly Hills at least once a month.

Love the movie and your outfit.

    Here's to an awesome 30 for 30!

  31. I wish I too had a sweet peach of a husband to take pics of me early in the morning:)

    You look beautiful as usual!

    xx

  32. The only time I've seen Jenny Lewis, she was wearing a t-shirt with holes in it and a bandanna.

She's girl scout post wilderness camping weekend.

  33. So lovely! I adore the plaid with the pearls — a classic combo. And your photo shoot is oh so cute.

    xoxo

  34. Haha, I always wanted to be a boy scout anyway – I thought they did cooler activities – however they have nothing that compares to the joys of Thin mints! BTW that necklace is dreamy!
