{Shop: Dress, Boots, Socks}

It’s finally starting to look like fall. Actually it’s just starting to look like fall on this one street in a small suburb outside of Dallas. I was visiting my parents this weekend and while driving we passed by this pretty country road. Lucky for it, I was dressed for outfit pictures. The rest of Texas though still looks like it’s August. I am halfway convinced that we will spend Thanksgiving in short sleeves and flip-flops. And as always in the Skeen household, in elastic pants. I can’t eat a holiday meal without my trusty elastic pants. And of course plastic utensils because we are classy, always.

What am I even talking about? Elastic pants, thanksgiving and plastic utensils. Wait a minute, it must be November. That’s what I’m talking about.

Oh and thanks for your response on the “to post or not to post an outfit” question. I guess I’m somewhere in between. I mean if it’s a really, really bad outfit — no one sees it. If it’s just questionable, I throw it up on the ol’ blog to garner responses. But there are definitely outfits you’ll never see because some days a girl just doesn’t feel like ironing, ya know?

Wow. This was the most random post ever. Oh wait, how about a photo of high school Kendi that I found at my parents house this weekend?

There we go. Now it’s the most random post ever. You are very welcome.

{UPDATE: Oh heyyy, look who has a twin! This was totally unplanned, too. Great minds shop alike.}

  1. i absolutely adore your outfit in this post! The dress and cardigan colors go so well.

oh yes, and the random Kendi in high school photo was the icing on the cake. haha! Thanks for making the best & funniest fashion posts ever. 🙂

  2. I really love this outfit! The boots & socks look awesome together, and the dress & cardi are so pretty and perfect for fall!

  3. It's not looking like fall in my part of texas, that's for sure! Lovely outfit. That dress looks great on you. 🙂

  4. This is the type of outfit I wish I could wear and look as cute as you…love it! And love that you're brave enough for putting your high school photo up…love how real you are!

  5. You were cute in high school, but that pose makes my arms hurt. The photographer must have told you to point both hands in the same direction, or something…

  6. Rachel — my husband and I were just laughing about that damn pose. Who knows what the photographer told me? Isn't that the weirdest pose ever?

I did not however choose to post the photo were the photographer had me straddle my guitar. If you thought the hands going in the same direction was painful, boy have I got an embarrassing photo to show you.

  7. I adore the way you write. Seriously. And you are classy. Always. Even with plastic and elastic.

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT X 100,000,000. Seriously. It's all beautiful. The pop of color, the sweet print, the cool-as-can-be boots and socks? Perfection, and then some.

  8. oh man i was totally pondering those boots at urban today! if they had been dark brown, i would not have been able to resist!

  9. Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's still August. I guess Texas is a lot warmer, its just hard to imagine. We had our first snowfall (don't worry its all melted!) here last weekend…

Ps. I LOVE the high school Kendi pic. So random, hahaha

  12. wow, i'm amazed you were able to find such fall foliage in my city!! the most i've seen is 1 sporadic tree that has some colors, but you got super lucky!

i love this outfit and the colors really are perfect for fall. i love the way you sport the knee-high socks with boots.

and your h.s. pic is so cute!! 🙂

  13. I wish I had something to trade you in exchange for the high school guitar photo being posted. I'm certain most of us have a few of those embarrassing albums floating around.

  14. I feel ya about the weather. It's still in the mid to high 80's in Arizona. Believe it or not it should be cooler here even though we don't really have a typical autumn.

Sweet pose in the your H.S. picture by the way haha

  15. We must have had the same photographer in high school. My photos are equally embarrassing – cue me popping out from behind a random tree with one hand behind my head. Dang crazy photographers. And adorable outfit! I live the color of that sweater and the boots 🙂

  16. Love these pics! Layering is my best friend. That's why I always dread summer – there just isn't that much to work with in the ways of wardrobes.

I don't know how you do it living in Texas – I LOVE the cold weather and the winter. But I guess that's why I live up north 😀 But thanksgiving in sweatpants is always a good thing anyways.

  17. ahaha, why didn't my high school have an awesome studio like that for us to take pictures in? My Thxgiving secret… Leggings! Stretchy and nobody can see all the yams you're hiding under there 🙂

  18. This post made me smile 🙂 Yes, we'll probably spend Thanksgiving in flip flops in the South, just like we always have to turn on the AC to put up the Christmas decorations. Or we do around here at least!

  19. Not even sure what I was going to end up saying in my comment, because I got distracted reading your comment: "I did not however choose to post the photo were the photographer had me straddle my guitar"
WHAT THE WHAT?!? You've got to share that one!

  20. I love how awkward your hands are in that picture. Those professional photogs were really onto something.

  21. Looooove this outfit Kendi! I need to try socks over tights with my boots- thanks for the inspiration as always 🙂 I love your style!

  22. Dear Kendi
Your clothes look like beautiful autumn leaves. You are beautiful. And so very funny.
In Australia, it is nearing summer, yet still cool and very rainy.
I sent you an email – did you get it?

  23. I am so close to buying that dress… It's just so perfectly "fall" and still looks comfy for Florida, where highs are still in the 80s. Awesome. (Aren't old high school photos the best? I'm afraid I'm actually reaching the point now where I can say, "What was I thinking?")

  24. I love those boots, they make me wish I had awesome legs, I have such skinny legs I don't suit boots like that.
    *filled with envy*

I love seeing what you wear, you have such an eye for colour and form, it totally inspired me to do something similar…only with a cheaper camera and less photogenic qualities 😀

  25. you are so funny. i love it.

the fall background is beautifuL 🙂 and i love the tights with socks with boots with… hah.

i have the socks which i love, but now i need to layer over some tights. when the weather gets chilly.

    thanks for sharing 🙂

  26. I was just also gonna say that Jessica at What I Wore is also wearing the same dress. Too cute, both of you 🙂

Excited and nervous about the 30/30! Still on the fence if I'll be able to do it / should do it 🙂

  27. Hey Kendi –

Just wanted you to know that another blogger I read is also wearing the same Meg Nielsen dress you have on today – Jessica from whatiwore.com

    Xo!

  28. I saw Jessica's blog first, then came over here, and was like, "Wait a Minute, is that the same dress?" Yay for twinners! Great stylish minds do think alike! I like both of your different takes on such a pretty dress!

And thank for the rambling randomness of the post – and especially for the high school picture 🙂

  29. I LOVE those boots! They are so perfect with the outfit! I'm on UO website now, debating purchasing my own pair!!!

  30. I love when bloggers wear the same dress at the same time but style it completely different! You did a great job here..love how it looks with the yellow cardi over it! And you totally blend in with your surroundings 🙂
