I know this sounds weird, but I had to check my photos to see if I had worn this outfit before in my remix. 1/3 of the way through and I’ve already got amnesia. No wonder I like this remix so much. I can’t remember it enough to not like it. I like to call this hard times amnesia*, as this also rang true for ex-boyfriends and jobs. One job in particular I left 4 times and went back 3. And I always gave boyfriends a second chance. Except for my lifetime boyfriend, I never let him leave. (Uh… that would be my husband, don’t get any funny ideas.)
I’m really hoping that my boots make it through the rest of the challenge. I’ve had them for two and a half years and they are wearing thin on the bottom. Should I get them re-soled or buy new ones? You guys decide. I’m terrible at decisions.
*I really shouldn’t put the 30 for 30 in with lame jobs and lame boyfriends. The 30 for 30 is not lame. I repeat, the 30 for 30 is not lame.

  1. Okay that's what my husband said too. I think it would be cheaper than $100 which is what these puppies cost, so maybe I'll just do that!

  2. These photos are beautiful! And I love the outfit as well. I would go with the re-sole option… because they're such gorgeous boots! Also, I'm totally with you on the amnesia! 🙂

    Happy Friday!

  3. Bring them with you the next time you're in town and we'll take them to my favorite shoe place, The Shoe Hospital!

  4. Ya totally get them resoled cuz they are absolutely fab! they are on my christmas list thanks to you:) i love the outfit but really i love every outfit you wear! thanks so much for coming up with the 30 for 30. i have been having alot of health problems and most days i just stay in my pjs but the challenge has given me something to look forward to. unfortunately ive got the flu on top of everything so im a little behind on my outfits but im gonna catch up next week!! you are such a star

ps: shopping with you is on my bucket list!!! whos with me? im sure its on everyones:)

  5. hehe…I do that with outfits sometimes…I'm like…wait – did I JUST wear this, or did I dream it? Good thing I've got a blog to reference to!

As far as the boots, I say get them resoled, especially if the rest of the boot is still in good shape. I'm hard on the soles of my shoes (my cobbler says I'm a "hard walker" whatever that means), and I had my steve madden intyces resoled last year – it looks great, was pretty inexpensive, and now the soles will hold up! Plus they are actually more comfy!

  6. Yeah remixing ex boyfriends is never a good idea. One chance is enough.
And if I were you, I would probably love those shoes a lot so I would definitely resole those… and then a pair of new ones too 😀

  7. Resole. Speaking of buying things…

Uhh…Kendi, did you realize that you started the 30 for 30 RIGHT in the middle of the season with the BEST EVER sales and deals? Is it cheating if I take advantage of current sales and just wait until the end of the challenge to wear it? Or just call it a gift from me to me? Just wondering, it's totally on my mind, LOL.

    Peace,
    Monique

  8. I have those same boots and have had them a while, too. Is it ok to wear them with the "worn" look? I was thinking about that the other day… is "worn" in??

  9. I vote only get the boots resoled if you think you'll be devastated if they were gone from your life and/or you don't feel like going on the hunt for a new pair of kickin' boots!

I'm kind of hoping the same thing for one pair of my own heels that I included in the challenge – I'm hoping that the heels don't break because I would be devastated!

I love this outfit by the way – for some reason "Texas rose" came to mind upon seeing it. Apparently my mind is playing word association games with pictures today!

    Small Time Style

  10. I would get them resoled- it's not that expensive, you can get it done really well too. Plus I like the worn look of your boots right now- that was 2.5 years in the making!

  11. If you love the boots have them re-soled! In my experience it is hard to replace loved items with something new….I never love the new as much as the old. Plus it is better for the environment and the economy (supporting small business cobbler rather than large scale commercialism) to have them re-soled!

  12. If you're super-crazy-in-love with these boots then resole them. But take a look around and if you find a better pair that you're MORE super-crazy-in-love with, then get those. If you've had them for 2+ years and the soles have worn out, you've probably worn them enough that you've gotten your money's worth out of them and can buy a new pair guilt-free. But if you really do love these guys, resole 'em. That's my philosophy. 🙂

  13. I really like the boots. I think it would be hard to find replacements, and even if you found something similar, it probably wouldn't be the same. And you wouldn't like them as much. It seems smartest to me to re-sole them. They are gorgeous.

  14. RE-SOLE THEM! absolutely! I do it all the time. well worth it- you already know you love them 🙂 save a life- resole a shoe. haha 😉

  15. Re-sole them if they're actually leather & otherwise holding up really nicely. If you can find a replacement for $100 or less, however, it could be worth just buying new ones 😀 I really love how you match brownish colors together. For some reason I'm good at blacks & greys, but horrible with browns!

  16. Great outfit 🙂

Those boots do look lovely 🙂 I'd get them resoled for sure provided it 's not more expensive than an equally lovely pair.

  17. I posted one of my pictures from yesterday on my DeviantArt account, I got a comment that I shouldn't mix black, white, violet and yellow…I wasn't wearing any violet so now I'm confused. Also, slightly paranoid I may be colour blind and nobody has said anything for fear of upsetting me.

You're definitely wearing blue and light brown right…okay good.

  18. Um, those shoes are pretty cool. I would get them resoled if I were you. But if you decide to get new ones and those boots are a size 8, I'd be happy to take them off your hands. 🙂

  19. Looks like these babies are getting re-soled. You guys better be around when we have kids, we are gonna need some help with the name.

  20. Resole if the rest of them is still good, otherwise i'd replace. I resoled my favourite shoes a lot!!! I actually just bought them in black and I love them endless.com had then 25% off!
Meanwhile, I LOVE these photos honey, they are beautiful!! Also your blog redesign is fabulous!!

  21. I think they look worthy of resoling. I'm having to decide something similar – my awesome black boots lost one of the heels (the rubber part on the stacked heel) at the very end of the boot season last year. But I must have gained some weight in my calves during my pregnancy because they are SO tight right now (not that I've been wearing them much, since I didn't add them to my 30 because of the heel issue)

  22. Please let me/us know what you decide to do with your boots and how it works out (if you re-sole them!) My brown boots (that are similar to yours, actually) are my favorite thing I own. I would wear them everyday if I could. But I'm terrified to wear them out. They are already getting a little messed up. I mourn for the day that I have to get rid of them!

  23. Finding a good shoe man is one of the best things for any woman. I trust mine completely–if I bring in a pair of boots, he'll give me an honest opinion about whether they're worth reworking or not. He's salvaged some things I never thought I would get to wear again! They're a cute shape–I'd give resoling a try.

  24. i absolutely love this mix of colors!

i have the same boots and had mine resoled last year. best thing i ever did! i know they have gone down in price since i bought them 3 years ago but still…it was only $18 for the pair. and they even have a tiny bit of traction now. whereas, the original soles were flat and i used to slip around a lot.

  25. Re-sole the boots, for sure. They're adorable, you clearly love them, and they go with so many items. What if you spend the money and don't love the new ones as much? That would be a travesty, no?

    Very cute today, Miss Kendi.

  26. Definitely resole. I bring most of my nice shoes to the cobbler even before I wear them, especially if they have leather soles, to get a thin rubber sole added to the bottom. Makes them last and last and also makes it more fun for me to wear them because I dont' worry about wearing them out.

  27. Today you look like the chicest cowgirl in town. I love the look, and it's seems like you are going to resole those bad boys. I think that it really depends on the price or resoling them. Sometimes it's better to invest in the pair.

    My Heart Blogged

  28. definitely re-sole them. why throw out a perfectly good pair of boots? it's better for the planet that way (sorry to be cheesy but it's true)

this outfit is making me wish I had a shirt like that in my remix list. dang it. next time.

  29. Resole the boots! I just bought the exact same pair in September and I wear them ALL THE TIME (that with eight other pairs of awesome boots living in my closet)!

  30. I did a double-take at this outfit too, it's like the first, but different, so it isn't like it at all except for the shirt. Anyway I'd say I like this classic combo a bit better. Don't forget to try it out again sometime.

  31. weigh how much it cost to resole vs. buying new. then decide!

Also, because you mentioned Kate Middleton so much lately, I googled and then watched 25 minutes of her and prince william interview with the today show. I already thought she had great style, but now I can offically say, I have a girl crush on her. So cute. 🙂

  32. Love the country charm flavor of this outfit. The boots look cool but I can't tell without a close up if they are worn on the front. If not re-soling (is that a word?) would be the way to go.

  33. 30 for 30 is anything but lame!

If you are going to get the boots re-soled, do it sooner than later. I waited to long and my favorite pair cracked…during a thunderstorm. Just days before the remix. RIP favorite brown boots.

  34. Definetly get them re-heeled Kendi – if you've had them for that long, they've seen you through a whole ton of outfits! but yes i'm always up for buying new ones – just so hard to find!

I think I need to do a boots special on http://www.ladympresents.co.uk ! will let you know!

  35. I vote for a re-sole! If you love them enough to wear them for that long and add them to your 30×30, I think they are worth making new again! 🙂

  36. Definitely don't lump 30 for 30 in with lame things, because it's anything but! It's inspired me to take on my own closet and is pretty much the reason why I started my style(ish, because I'm not stylish) blog!

And my vote's for the re-sole!

  37. re-soled for sure. those boots are really pretty. unless of course, you've already got your eye on a cuter pair 😀

and hey, you have a right to amnesia. this is your third remix already. i'm on my first and i'm already getting amnesia. no excuses haha.

hope you have a good weekend up ahead!

  38. Get them re-soled!! You will never find the same pair again. I learned this with my plain black peep-toe kitten heels that I wore out, cried when I threw them away and then consoled myself thinking oh, those are pretty basic, I should have no trouble finding another pair. 3 years later and I'm still pining away…

Adorable outfit and congrats on the 5-year-together mark with the hubs. 🙂

  39. Depends , if the boots are showing signs of wear-and-tear on other areas , buy new ones . If not , stick with the old and just get the re-soled because they are amazing and definitely worth keeping if you can ! 🙂

  40. Absolutely adorable!
and if the only thing wearing out on the boots is the souls, I would deff just get them redone. And then maybe buy a new different pair just on principle. haha.

    -Megan Rose

  41. i have these boots and have wore them into the ground too! i say buy new ones…only at the nordstrom half yearly sale. love the feel of those photos with the outfit!

  42. Kendi,

I LOVE those boots and am asking for them for Christmas… can you tell me, are yours the 'cognac' color, or 'wine'?

    Thanks!

  43. I say get the boots resoled! If they've worn them out, then you obviously love them a lot. It would be a shame to get rid of them over something so easily fixed!

  44. resole your shoes! i always have my boots re tipped, it's so cheap! When you do your remix, do you count tights and scarves/jewelry in the 30 items?

  45. Re-sole for sure. The boots are beautiful and will probably look even better as the years go by. Also, re-soling these babies goes with the whole remixing thing. Work what you already got, girl 🙂
