My sister is 4 years older than me. Which if you know how old I am and given that you are fairly good at math, I’ve just outted her age. A cruel thing to do to someone who bought you a very cute skirt last weekend. As her little sister I’ve got an uncanny ability to let her buy me clothes. It’s my super power, letting others buy me things. Plus she is a very giving person. These are the reasons that we do not shop much together, as she would buy me lots of things and I would let her. Receiving free clothing is my weakness, my kryptonite.
Isn’t the fabric of this skirt pretty? I love the hints of metallic thread. The best part is that it only cost (my sister) $15. It cost me nothing of course. Not that I’m rubbing that in, though. Because I’m sure that you have a loving sister too that buys you pretty skirts. And if you don’t, I will share my sister.
But if you expect free clothes, she’s going to need a raise.

  1. Hmm…I'm trying to think of a way to convince my sister to start buying me stuff. But she's my younger sister, so I don't think that is going to happen! I love the shimmery stuff in the skirt, though!

  2. Umm Kendi! Do you know me? Are you me? Because I have an older sister that always ends up buying me clothes when we go shopping together. And I can't say no! And even better, she bought me this very skirt (in silver) from the Loft! How craaazy!

  3. I love this outfit, Kendi! Neutrals are my all time favorite, especially a neutral only outfit. Yet with all the different fabrics and the metallic it has so much depth! Tres chic.

  4. I love the fabric of the skirt, and the monochromatic look of your outfit.
My sister and I just steal each other's clothes. Though being the older sister I generally give my sister a ton of my clothes.

  5. and here all of these years i didnt think i was missing out on much being an only child! thanks for ruining that for me, kendi.

    😉

  6. My sister was suppose to crochet me a pair of earrings. She started them back in December. I have yet to receive said earrings. Clearly your sister is cooler than my sister. Perhaps I could send your sister the link to the etsy shop for said earrings so she could buy them for me.

    I kid, I kid.

Love the skirt, you look great as always.

  7. I like the long gold necklace! Gold jewelry is so pretty right now.

And I have younger sisters and they're pretty good at this trick too.

  8. That's what sisters are for though right? Except I think my lil sister tends to buy me clothes more than I do for her. but I get her on other things… like hotel rooms and meals, and tons of hand me downs? And I'll gladly take hand me ups. But seriously – you've got an awesome sister, with awesome taste, and now and awesome skirt! 🙂

  9. Love all the natural colors in this outfit! My sister and I are almost 4 years apart but I am your sister's age and the younger sister. My sister doesn't buy me anything, nor I her. But I think she needs to go shopping with me, she could use some help. Don't tell her I said that. She's says I've become quite the fashionista but the credit goes to you, Kendi! I stalk your blog far too much!

  10. This neutral palette is really, really flattering on your skin and looks so pretty on you!

Unfortunately I don't have a sister. 🙁 I do have a mother though. And a mother in law. And I collect my free clothes and makeup that way. 😀

  11. I adore this skirt! i also loved the metallics in it. Its so funny i was chuckling because when you said your sister bought you this, it made me smile because just the other day i got my sister to buy me a cardigan from loft, because i let her use my savings cards that i got from there, so i told her she sort of had to! hehehe! glad we both have older sisters who love us enough to buy us clothes! 🙂

  12. Now, more than ever, I wish I had a big sister. Instead, I'm the oldest. Of five. Now, if all those kids are expecting free clothes… I'm going to need a raise. Thanks for cluing me into that big-sister-duty I was forgetting. 🙂

Love the neutrals look; it's so very classic. This is okay occasionally but I miss crazy-colors-Kendi. Promise she'll come back over the weekend? Please?!

  13. I love the details in that skirt!
My older sister buys me stuff too. But I usually buy her stuff back 🙂

I love the neutrals in these photos- I'm not a very good "neutral" person, but I wish I had a bunch to wear now!

  14. I love the neutral color palette here, Kendi! And luckily I do have some sisters to enjoy–as for buying clothes for each other goes, though, it's me doing the buying most of the time.

  15. I actually am spoiled by my younger sister. She's much more frugal than I, so usually has more money to spend. She's always taken care of me more like an older sister would.

How do you get that soft curl in your hair? I love it. I want to steal it from you.

  16. What a sweet sister you have! That skirt is so pretty.

I'm the older sister, and my sister Nikki has the uncanny ability of getting me to buy or give her things. But she's so cute and puts on her baby deer face, that I can't help but want to dote on her.

  17. so cute, but it seems as though you need to bust out the iron on many of your outfits.

  18. i hope everyone with older siblings who spoil you show your appreciation! I am the older sister in this case and although my little brother does not show his appreciation as much as id like…it makes me happy when he enjoys his new jeans and when he calls me for fashion advice 😀 makes me want to buy him more (hint on how to get more free goodies from older siblings)

  19. I love the neutral palette!

My sister 4 years older than me too, she doesn't buy be free clothes though… haha. but she has kids to buy for so i guess i can let it slide!

  20. i have two older sisters and even better then them taking me shopping is getting there handy downs. i have close in my closet that i haven't worn in years but because i have the memory of them in it and me makes it that much more special!

  21. So cute! I recently bought the same skirt (at a huge discount as well!) and I've been wondering hot to style it. Now I have some ideas, thanks Kendi!

  22. I am the older sister and I buy clothes for all of my 3 younger sisters. They also like to pretend my closet is a clothing store and I get a text often that says "I'm going to Vegas, I know you're at work but can I go in your closet and borrow a dress?"

Sure thing…make sure you don't stretch out my clothes and dry clean it before you give it back to me.

That has worked for us so far.

I'm loving the skinny belt on your outfit. I love gold belts.

  23. I'm the older sister, so I'm broke, buying my little sis all that stuff. I need a big sister of my own!

    I adore that skirt!!!

  24. I love this post–your sister rocks! I actually have a similar thing going with my sister who's 4 years younger than me; she changes her style dramatically once a year or so. I then swoop in, try all her stuff on, and wheedle half her closet out of her. She whines, but she knows it's retribution for when she used to steal (and ruin!) all my clothes in high school.
