Hello friends, new and old. If you are new, welcome. Make yourself at home. If you are old, oh hey — what’s up? Why didn’t you bring the wine this time? No, it was your turn. I’m pretty sure it was. That’s fine, but you owe me.

So I made my photos bigger. Possibly too big. I’m still feeling it out. What do you guys think? Too much Kendi in your face? Did you open up your window and gasp? Did I scare you?
Sorry about the fuzziness of the photos. We have been taken pictures so late at night (like 8, not midnight, I’m dramatic, ok?) that my husband has to push his ISO up really high. What is ISO, Kendi? I don’t know. We have a deal — I don’t ask questions about his photography, and he doesn’t ask questions like why doesn’t your belt match your shoes?
Let’s be honest here, I wanted to wear a t-shirt to work today. How do I get away with this was the first thought that went through my head this morning. I tried to sneak out in pajama pants but my husband said no. So I put on a loose pencil skirt, threw on a belt and here I am, in all of my t-shirt glory. Who knows? I might even sleep in my t-shirt, I’m just that crazy. Actually I’m just that tired.

  1. I love, love, love this outfit! The color combo is amazing, and I'm totally obsessed with mustard and dark purple lately. You look awesome!

  2. I think you look fabulous in these colors:) and…I LOVE the larger pics….the bigger the better I say:) You look great!! Get some rest….:)

  3. I don't want to gush because I don't want you to question my authenticity, but you are absolutely my online style idol! Every time I read your blog I find something I just HAVE to copy. Love it!

  4. sometimes i wear my teeshirt from bed to work the next morning… yeap, i didn't shower. threw on a vintage necklace, cardigan, hair in a high bun, denim trouser pants and i'm out the door <3

  5. Bigger photos = better. I often try to click on yours to get them larger only to learn they aren't larger at all. Very disappointing.

  6. Oh no, Colleen don't be disappointed! I size them in photoshop because the raw files are humongous. But lately I've been feeling like they are too small. I see your point — the bigger the better, right? 😉

  7. I don't mean to be disappointed because it has been the same daily but sometimes when you are smaller and the picture has more background I definitely want to be able to click on the photo and get a larger view. I know in flickr for some people I can enlarge the photos but for yours it seemed that I was viewing the largest option. But I am crazy and love when a picture can take up the entire page and I can analyze it.

Also do you have to do anything to get your belts to stay put? I have issues with mine sliding up in the back when i sit down.

  8. I totally understand. I like the bigger size too and when I can see the whole thing as well.

Yes, my belts slide up as well. I haven't figured out a trick to that yet, except make them a bit tighter which hurts sometimes! If you figure this out, let me know. Haha.

  9. I LOVE this outfit! Mustard yellow and plum are my two individual favs and I love them even more together! Great outfit!

p.s. I like the larger photos. They make it easier to see your awesome outfits.

  10. I'm relieved I'm not the only one with the same camera problem. I feel like my photos are all grainy and gross, and not in the cool kind of way either. 🙁 The only way I've combated this is to take pictures in the morning, but I suppose I'll ultimately have to get a better camera.

  11. You look great! The color combo is fantastic and reminds me of fall. I also like the new picture sizes. Hope you get some rest!

  12. Just want to let you know that I am probably going to copy this color palette and outfit! I too worked a t-shirt into my work wardrobe today – if I could have worn the pajama pants, I just might have. 🙂

I like the bigger picture format! Great guest post on "What I Wore" today! Loved it!

    Small Time Style

  13. It's already dark here at 8pm. I think. Actually, I am pretty sure of it because at like 8:15pm while I was suppose to do my hw, I looked out the window and I saw darkness! Then I was like OH no! I am working so slow! Then I looked at a clock, 8:XXpm only.

I like the bigger picture. More Kendi. =]

    Just Better Together

  14. This might be my favorite outfit yet!! I'm also a huge Clue fan so that might be biasing me a bit. And the larger photos actually feel more pleasing to my monkeyeye (and will probably even more so when the ISO's back down)!

  15. I love the mash up of colours here (plus it lead to the post name, which I also adore) I'm now going to be on a hunt for anything mustard to pair with well, really any other colour!

p.s getting away with wearing a t-shirt at work is the best! I did it the other day and felt like such a rebel (as you can tell, I'm quite the delinquent!)

  16. I totally wore a t-shirt to work today, too (mine was of the embellished variety). I felt like such a bad-ass. But then one of my coworkers one-upped me by wearing muddy sneakers. I'll never win in my office.

  17. I would have never thought that those colors would go together so wonderfully but they really do. Inspiration for the next time I look in my closet.

  18. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts. They make me giggle and smile. I aspire to have a fun blog like yours.

  20. This is my absolute favorite color combo. Eggplant + mustard + robin's egg is the color palate for the living room in my new apartment and I think it's just stunning. You pulled the combo off superbly here!

  21. I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone by saying that I love the color combo! And I flurve that skirt. I need more mustard colored items in my wardrobe.

  22. Great look! Watching you get ready for autumn with all your nice warm clothes makes me a bit jealous… we're just starting into our crazy hot australian weather! Some how I dont think woolens are condusive to comfort in 107 degree weather 🙂

  23. Sometimes I wish you weren't so funny because usually your posts make me laugh out loud and I get funny looks from the other people in the room (but please don't stop).

I love this outfit, you mixed the two colours so perfectly!

  24. I would never thought to combine the colors you did, but I must say, I love them. Also, I totally feel you on the want to wear a tshirt to work thing!

  25. Very cute outfit, Kendi! Who wouldn't want to go to work in a t-shirt hehe I think you pulled it off!:) Love those shoes, too!

  26. Love that color combination!

(And I like the larger images – I click through to see them bigger a lot of the time, anyway.)

  27. i thinkkk the pictures is justt in a greatt size :DD i love it,, n i love ur clogs and mustard skirt!!

    xoxo

  28. What a cute outfit! I love those shoes! Who knew clogs would be so in?

So, I am not digging the sun going down earlier. Evening photos are going to be the pits. I try to get my photos down by 6:30 but sometimes that's just impossible. What will we do when the sun is going down at 5?

  29. Loving the mixing of colors! Very nicely done. And I love resorting to a t-shirt and my pencil skirt. There is nothing wrong with that.

  30. Hey there! So glad, that Jessica is getting married, since that made me find your blog. Wish I had known about the wine – well, next time, alright? Anyway, your blog is awesome (there ya go, 1996). Love your style, so much more creative than my beloved "classic look", which I feel most comfortable and secure in. 😉 But what ever works, right? You look superchic and your sense of humor is sooo appreciated! Thanks for the great pics and the laughs I had today.

  31. I like the bigger photos! I really didn't even notice until you mentioned it… and really, is there such a thing as "too much Kendi"? 🙂 I really like the color mixing here!

  32. Dress tape works in theory but the belt will eventually pull free from it because it's a heavier object than, say, a dress hem- leaving you with an embarrassing looking piece of tape stuck to your clothing.

Love the mustard and plum but not so sure if I would be comfortable with that belt although that's a personal preference. Looks great on you, adventurous Kendi!

  33. I'm not new, I just almost never comment. Shame on me, I know! But I wanted to let you know I like the bigger pictures, especially since they are always so good!!

  34. Hello!!! I'm from Spain and i've discoverd your blog! i pass over here only to tell you:I love your blog and how I miss USA and how i like reading things in your blog like "I smell the fall". I've living in Nebraska and I miss smell this weird fall and winter, the snow, the people…the country.
I wish I can come back!

    So sorry for my english!=D
    Besos desde España!!!

  35. Love your color palette revolving around Colonel Mustard! 🙂 I love that you dressed up a t-shirt with a pencil skirt…take that Corporate. I've tried this trick a time or two myself!

  36. t-shirts at work are the greatest. i love embellished ones tucked into pencil skirts, and did a tutorial for making my own on my blog. you can check it out here:
    http://closetconfections.com

those shoes are awesome. i can't believe you got them from target, because i've seen some identical-looking ones for well over $100. well done!

    Kendra

  37. On some pictures you really remind me of Melanie Lynskey. Maybe it's just the pictures but as I haven't seen you in real life, I would say you're sisters. 🙂
Anywho, I really enjoy your blog. The size of the pictures is better than before, in my opinion. Your humour makes your posts pleasant to read 🙂

  38. gorgeous. i love the colors you chose. very fall and yet not too heavy. and i like the bigger photos. bigger is better for sure!

  39. I love your fearlessness of color mixing, my kind of gal.
I would wear a t-shirt to work every day if I could, but I just feel like I would be getting a bit too far on the the casual side of business casual. Sometimes it is just one of those kinds of days though.

  40. It was great to meet you the other night at Mamacitas!! If only you had a post for us PREGGO's out here!! I am finding it harder and harder to look cute! LOL!! I am in serious need of something ADORABLE for my shower on September 11th!!

  41. Is that the new J Crew Double-serge pencil skirt in Bronzed Ochre? Or is it from a past season? I have it in my shopping cart and trying to decide if I should get it for full price…Thanks! Also, I've never commented but have stalked your blog for awhile now. Your outfits and poses always keeps me coming back, and of course your humor.

what you write everyday also makes me chuckle 🙂

  48. I love the titles of your posts–they always make me smile. And plum and mustard look great together. Love your outfit!

My b/f has been dabbling in photography the last few weeks and just bought himself a basic DSLR–those cameras are neat but kinda complicated. I did sorta understand the ISO reference though!
