6.29.10aOkay so after reading your comments, conducting further investigation and calling my sister for her response to the post, I’ve come to yet another conclusion: I don’t want to be a mom, I want to be a hot mom. My sister said that my outfit is totally mom-ish but it’s like one of those moms that all of the other moms hate because it looks like I got 15 minutes to myself and was able to shower and clean myself up properly. Also — Clare left a great point. If I’m going to wear white pants and tops from Anthropologie, I’m going to need a nanny. I don’t have kids yet, but I love the idea of hiring a nanny. We need a maid and I need someone to pick me up from work, bring me lunch and listen to my day while baking me cookies. Let me know if you are interested. I pay in hand-me-downs and chocolate.
Remember this dress? Well now its a top. Which by the way, it’s a lot easier to make a dress into a top, than to make a dress into a skirt. Lesson learned.
Friends — I interrupt this blog post to bring you another blog post: Starting next Monday, July 5th, I’m starting another 30 for 30 Remix, the summer edition. And you all are invited to join in. Here are the rules :
1. Pick out 30 items (shoes included) and list or take a picture of the items and post on your blog.2. Leave a comment below or email me about your involvement and where you are blogging at, I’ll link your blog and check in on you regularly like a stalker. 3. Spread the love to the other re-mixers. And invite others on your blog to join in as well. I’ll post a banner for you to use on your remixes each week.
It’s just that simple. I’ll try to get my remix items posted this week to give you a glimpse at what I’ll be remixing. So get ready friends for the next 6 weeks, 5 outfits a week and by using the word “Remix” at least 3 times per post, I will rock the crap out of my closet. Let’s do this.

  1. Okay, so I went back and read the white jeans post and as a mom who is a part time fashion blogger (I only blog one outfit a week), I totally wear white all.the.time! I don't mean to discredit your sis, but I have been known to rock white jeans or a white button up shirt at least two days in a row because it stayed clean! I also wear belts a lot too. I do have to agree with the chunky jewelry though 🙂 And yes, when I am looking "hottish" I do get some eye rolls from my friends and other moms, who rhetorically ask, "how do you find the time?" And to which I reply, I'll manage my time, you manage yours, k?" Booyah! That's for all the hot moms out there!

And so yes, I would like to do the 30 day challenge because I keep adding to my summer wardrobe even though I swore I would stop 2 months ago after a binge at Forever 21. I could use the incentive to work with what I've got!

  2. I know I do not have enough clothes to do 30×30! But I am excited to see all the outfits everyone comes up with!

  3. Considering doing the challenge. It would certainly be interesting, especially since I'd feel obligated to include my required work uniform in my 30 items. I don't think I own much more than 30 items, actually.

This looks great, by the way. I loved the dress as a dress and I think I like it more as a top. Bravo!

  4. I am so down for this go around of 30 for 30. I will be going through my closet on Thursday seeing as I am being evacuated from mine tomorrow due to my upstairs neighbors fleas investing my apartment. Cleaning all of my clothes after exterminators come should be a huge help in picking my items.

  5. I think as a mom, you really have to figure it all out as you go along. Eventually you find what works for you and what doesn't. Every child is different, so you might either have to dress down a lot and lose the jewelry and heels, or you might have a really low key baby who allows you to dress as you please. breastfeeding makes wardrobe choices a bit more challenging from what i hear. but you know what – i say that if you're determined to look fabulous, it's totally possible! i'm sure you're going to be like the hottest mom on the block someday!

  6. oooh, yeah I am tempted to join you this time. I'm just not sure i'm creative enough haha. You always put together the cutest outfits… this challenge would just be amazing for my budget. eep i'm so torn.
I'll check my wardrobe and get back to you haha. xo

  7. I am SO doing the 30 for 30 remix!! I was BORN for this… haha. Also is it weird that I would totally be your nanny? I love kids, cooking for people and most of all BAKING. I'm okay with hand-me-downs too. 🙂

  8. oh my goodness… i've been wanting to try the 30 out of 30 thing since i started reading your blog the last time you did this! it's going to be a pretty tough challenge for me – so you cannot buy anything in 30 days? ah! my wishlist won't like it, but my pocketbook sure will!

okay.. let's do this! and yes, check in on us cause i will especially need an accountability partner to keep my shopaholic tendenies at bay!

  9. There is a definite possibility that I will be joining you on this one! I just have NO IDEA where to even start with picking out 30 things. That is going to be a hard one. But if you can do it, I guess I can. Love the outfit by the way (as usual).

  10. Ooh so tempted to join. I'll get back to you! And those earrings are so gorgeous! As are you. Of course. 🙂

  11. I think I want to join. I'd really like to stretch myself as a blogger and 30 for 30 would definitely stretch me.

  12. Ok, I'm up to the challenge. My husband will be so proud that I won't be buying new crap for the next 30 days. But I won't tell him since the first rule is don't talk about fight club…I mean Remix Club. He'll just have to figure it out himself! ha!

And lots of polyvoring will be in my future for planning. This will be fun!

  13. Kendi, you look fab! As for the 30 for 30…gulp, gulp, gulp……don't know that I could do it. A part of me would feel guilty for ignoring the REST of the unworn clothes, and a month is a long time….see, I make up so many excuses, but also know my limitations! Looking forward to what you come up with!

  14. What's up with you looking all grownup lately? All mature and ish…

I wish I was creative enough to do a 30×30. And brave. My outfits are only via Polyvore!

  15. You did look like a suburban mom who drives a Sienna and has a nanny to take care of your kids. A hot mom. Of course! Very 'Weeds' like. Except for the drug dealing part.

  16. I loved your last 30 for 30 remix, so I can't wait to see what you come up with this time! I'm thinking about participating over at bestfootforward-kate.blogspot.com, but I'm not sure if I can pull it off. I'm considering it, though 🙂

  17. Yeah I am so glad you have invited us to play!! I live in Australia and it is the middle of winter so I am going to join in only I will be doing it winter style not summer style.

  18. You're brave girl! But I like it! Have fun!

As far as being a stylish mom, its totally possible. I will say you have to have a good partner though! It's called taking turns taking care of the baby…
And, I also have worn white with no problems. ;o) But your cracking me up, already asking for a nanny and you don't even have a kid yet, lol!! On that note, I will work for your hand me downs any day!

  19. you're so good at this, it's somewhat intimidating!

a pretty penny is going to do it too – and she's adorable.

  20. I wish I was brave like you! I would love to do a 30×30 remix, but I'm afraid it would turn into an advertisement for my place of employment haha 🙂

…I better just stick to sewing and DIYS and leave the remixin' to you!

  21. Oh kendi if only I was brave enough… I'd love to try but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm so pathetic… can I make up for it by saying how super excited I am to see what you come up with??

  22. Ack! I don't think I can layer another challenge on top of going black-free for another month … but look forward to seeing your looks!

  23. Cute outfit! I'm totally down for the 30×30, but I have NO clue what I would pick. I'll have to check my closet out to make a decision!

  24. I'm thinking of doing the 30 for 30, but I feel like I would be at an unfair advantage…. I'm working at the farm office this summer. That means a lot of jeans and t-shirts. Hm…

  25. Can't wait to see the new 30 for 30 challenge!!

And I'm glad you saw the light about hired help. It's the way to go.

  26. Dear Kendi

I would like to apply for the post of your maid. Although I have no experience, I am very good at receiving hand me downs and chocolate.

If you're interested, do contact me through my blog.

    Emma

PS I am far too much of a chicken to do 30 for 30. Looking forward to you doing this again, though

  27. I feel dumb asking this, but could someone explain to me exactly what the 30×30 challenge is? It sounds like a lot of fun and I'd love to take part, but I guess I'd have to start a blog first… haha.

I'm a new follower of your blog and love it! 🙂

  28. Alright, I thought about it and I'm committing! I'm joining the challenge. Can you just clear up one little thing for me? You say don't talk about the challenge in #1 and then say spread the love in #4. I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation for how these don't contradict each other. 🙂

I blog at The Laundry Narrative. Looking forward to see what all the remixers come up with.

  29. Kendi, I'm beyond excited that you're doing another 30 for 30! I just started a summer style bootcamp inspired by your 30 for 30 yesterday. If I'd known you were starting this, I would have included shoes, but I didn't. I can't wait to see this throughout the blogosphere!!

  30. Such an adorable outfit! I bet you can hire a nanny, cook, and chaffeur just by wearing cute outfits lol. I won't be participating in the 30 for 30, but I can't wait to see what you post!

  31. okay, so you're pretty much amazing. I shall be participating in my own 30 for 30 challenge. Except that I don't have the patience to last 30 days wearing the same stuff, so instead I will take one or two days and just dress up in 30 different outfits using 30 items of clothing. I ADMIRE YOUR PERSEVERANCE. Okay, I totally didn't know how to use perseverance, and my handy internet browser has spellcheck. (Okay, irony. I spelled spellcheck wrong but I'm too lazy to go back and fix it to my demanding browser's liking). Anyway. My spellcheck suggested the right way to spell it in all caps. I'm glad that at least there's someone out there who understands me, even if it's just the google chrome spellchecker.

  32. I shower and dress at the gym every day so I get time to do it without my kids.

For the 30 for 30 can workout clothes worn only for working out in be an exception? I'd like to play but I need my gym clothes and sneakers for the gym.
    Stephanie

  33. You could definetly be a hot mom.
Love your earings…I might join the 30 for 30 challenge, but can I make an exception for my workout clothes for the gym?

  34. Your 30 for 30 challenge sounds great, but I feel like I just finished a capsule wardrobe challenge and am still loving having my whole closet back again!

Nice job with the dress turned top, so cute!!

    Chic on the Cheap

  35. Dang, if I didn't just set up a de-hoarding project for myself, I'd totally be on board for the 30 for 30. But seeing as how my rack of things I'm working from doesn't work with each other, I'd be totally screwed. Can't wait to see how you rock it though!

  36. I'm going to Peru for three weeks, so the remix challenge will definitely be happening so I don't overpack. Sadly, I probably won't be blogging about it since I'm not sure how feasible that will be, but I will certainly try!

P.S. I'm super excited you're giving it another go!

  37. Kendi, you have once again brightened my day!
I am nervous, scared, uncertain, and yet so intrigued to do the 30×30. I love a good challenge!

I really think I could do it! Although we haven't been having much of a summer yet in Vancouver 🙁 That's okay, I'll just freeze in the name of fashion! OMG I can't wait, I'm going to go pick my pieces right now.

  38. I am a new reader of your blog & I love it. I'm thinking about doing this 30 for 30 challenge – it sounds super fun and I am always up for a challenge. 🙂

    all-aboutaj.blogspot.com

  39. Hi Kendi! I think I found your blog after you did your last challenge. This sounds like such a fun challenge, and after reading backwards and backwards and seeing your inspiring and gorgeous outfit combos, I will give it a go for 30 for 30 Remix starting July 6th (after I get back from vacation). I already posted about it on my post today! Hope you follow!

    xx Vivian @ http://diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com

  40. Hi Kendi! Well I did post a comment before but it didn't show up! Anyhow, I'm new to your blog since your last challenge and I'm up for this one. Never done anything like it, but I like the idea! How I can limit my shoes will be a wonder though!

I already posted about it in my blog today! Hope you visit and follow! Will you do a link list for other readers so we can follow each other's challenge too?

    Thanks!

    xx Vivian @ http://diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com

  41. So I was reading back through the comments to see who else was gonna do this and check their blogs and I noticed a LOT of people didn't get your fight club reference. Haha. Does it make you feel old?

Maybe you should post some kind of disclaimer!

  42. I'm in! Gawd I am such a sucker for a challenge. I'm pretty sure that, on a regular basis, I probably only wear about 30 items anyway, but we'll see!

    My blog is the-new-professional.blogspot.com

  43. Okay Kendi.. i've decided! challenge accepted 😉

I have my 30 items picked out and I am excited to get started!! I'm scared though… really scared. haha

    Melissa

  45. I'm going to give it a try on my blog noguiltfashion.blogspot.com I am on a shopping ban till my vacation in August anyway, so this is just more inspiration.

  46. I'm a bit late to this party – but I'm going to give your challenge a go. I just found out about your blog via The New Professional. I'm going to post about the 30 for 30 challenge tomorrow. Funny, I just renewed the resolve to stop shopping (saving up for a trip to visit my sis in November) and this will make it fun!
